My 2 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback is crazy by many standards, but last week she really took it to the next level.

She loves the fireplace so much she pushes her bed closer and closer to it (mind you I live in NW Florida). The picture attached is from last friday when she pushed her bed INTO the fireplace. Some embers from the night before caught her dog bed on fire and nearly burned my house down!

You can see my walnut wood floor that was charred/on fire. My wife just happened to come home at the right time and was able to put it out.

No worries, this didn't phase the dog at all... she's still laying within inches of the fire (minus the dog bed)

Second pic is prior to the bed burning.

Begs a couple of questions though?

1. You live in Florida for crissake why a fire????
2. You left a fire in your home unattended?

1) I get alot of free wood from all the hurricanes and it's NW florida (lower alabama) so it gets "chilly" (ish) here. I don't run much heat and burn my hurricane wood.

2) No it wasn't unattended, it had some embers below the ash from a large fire the night before. Screen was in front of the fire, but damn she's persistent. She was able to jam her 4" high dog mattress under the 1.5" gap at the bottom of the screen. There wasn't a fire/flame for over 15 hours, but undoubtedly there was some hot spots.

I got some andirons to place on the hearth in front to keep her at a safer distance now.

Ok that makes me feel a little better. At least Murphy hasn't tried to kill us yet! Yet...

That's crazy!

While Riggs is an awesome dog he has proven himself a bit crazy in the past - He is a bit obsessed with tennis balls. While at the dog park he was standing with a ball in his mouth next to another dog when he saw someone else toss a tennis ball. He looked at the dog next to him for a split second and I saw the thought flash through his head: "I must have the ball that was just tossed, but there is no way I'm giving up the ball I have to this mutt next to me" He solved the problem in an instant - It cost me $1,000 to get that damn tennis ball out of his stomach.

This fucking dog. He ripped a $1,500 slip cover on our couch and pulled/dragged the whole fucking couch out a foot from where it usually sits.
