Not really an option. When we've done that they've ended up just separating him anyway since he doesn't get along with all dogs. He does much better in larger spaces, so the good news is that we're looking at buying a much larger space soon. Now, if we'd boarded him since the beginning, we'd probably have quite a bit less buying power at this point and would only be able to buy a place about the same size as we rent now.

Two has always worked for us. It definitely helped with the exercise and socialization, and of course, the raptor-like stalking of all manner of squirrels, snakes, turtles, deer and any other wildlife crazy enough to wander into our yard. A fox even ran through - once. For our GSD's, a tired dog is a happy dog.

Picked up some Clomicalm today from the vet for the Murph dog, so we'll use that in conjunction with additional training to try to get this anxiety in check. Drugs were last resort, but it's time.

Mine goes everywhere with us. She sits between Trey and I in the cab of the ford and looks down the road like a person, occasionally barking @ nefarious looking people. We are often asked why the diesel is still running when we park and its because the a/c is on for the dog. She's an extremely high energy breed and wants me outdoors with her no later than 8am.

Got a new Puppy a couple of weeks ago. 12 week old Golden. Where I go she comes, except if I am working. Too hot to leave in a car. Sits calmly in the passenger footwell of my DD. Nothing seems to phase this dog so far,

Rex has not been himself lately... lethargic, sick to his stomach and no appetite. Not even steak. Took him to his vet and explained that he probably got into something, as he has been known to chew on and eat things he shouldn't. After a feel of his intestine.. he says 'There are two very hard things in there and they don't feel connected.. exploratory surgery.'... Do it! A few hours later and Rex is fine...he had injested a couple of peach pits. Maybe he thought they were pecans?? Rex shall now be lovingly teased and referred to as "Peaches"..Silly dog, guess our composting bins are just too tempting.

Yeah I had a cat (Martin) eat a nut, 3 weeks and $2000 later he was fine.
Hurley the golden seems to have no problem passing the odd kid toy after he's destroyed it

Dogs love peach pits for some reason. Have wrestled a few out of my dog's mouth.

Here's what field and stream says about my dog

"When a good English pointer faces a bird. he does so with all but one foot on the coals of hell.”

"A pointer doesn’t cover the ground—he scorches it"

"Hunting over other breeds is like driving the family sedan; hunting over a pointer is like getting behind the wheel of a Ferrari. There are gears you didn’t know existed"

"there are two kinds of bird hunters: Those who think English pointers are the only dogs worth feeding, and those who are scared to death of them."

So to answer your question....yea he's a maniac. At least when in the field. In the house he's a lamb

Thank you Kim and me too! He's still pretty weak but should heal up fine... arg, silly dog. Lol, he's literally my shadow and follows me everywhere... but for now my spooner needs help getting on the bed. Fingers crossed he has learned to not eat peach pits!
