how about a cross country relay?

I stumbled across this site Spyderchat 10th Anniversary Relay - Forums Index
and they are sending a flag across the country in relay fashion. It might be a neat thing to set up as part of it is taking pictures and posting it on the site. Every person who relays it signs it and passes it onto the next person. It looks like they made a list of people who wanted to participate and then figured out a map based on that and are now sending it across the US. Chris could use his Cafepress Acct and get some people to chip in for a D-90 source flag and then ship it off to whoever was starting the relay. It could even be tracked like when ( I think it was janey) was driving across the country. Anyone like the idea? It would give you a reason to meet the people who live near you from the site and go check out their favourite place to try and get the 90 stuck while offroading.

Or if you didn't want a flag you could make a giant pair of panties and stick it on you windshield.

Or even something like this:

Less cash expenditure for the "flag"...

The bear should hit all 50 states, I guess Alaska and Hawaii might be tough.

Something like this? Doesn't have to be a bear, the shirt would go on just about any small stuffed toy I imagine and I could make a custom design for it or even an infant shirt if we needed something larger.

I can get your bear from GA to NM next week...he can even ride in the D90 on the trailer the whole way. No guarantees he'll make it!

How 'bout this with the D-90 t-shirt.

Driving with this in the back would get you a free beer or lunch somewhere.

Or we could send this and just refil it at each stop. But I think the dark bear is the best so far

Well, we could do a stuffed animal, or we could do a truck. I got an idea--let's see what happens--the 60th anniversary of Land Rover is coming up and this years Solihull Society rover rally in Moab is just the ticket. Why don't we all pitch in parts and build a trail rig for Moab, and then raffle it off and have the money go to a great charity that helps 4x4'ers or kids? It could start as a loser with a good frame and make it's way across the states and on some trails on its way--could make a great story piece and get some parts from suppliers, too. I would meet someone and take it for a week or so, and build/donate/make things like skid plates, air compressors, body work, whatever. There are a lot of us on this board that do our own work--we could team up and take the truck for a week or two and make it tip/top for the rally. We could vote on the charity on this board and come up with something great, I am sure. Just a thought--it would put something very karmically cool behind the whole concept... Or, we could do a stuffed animal in an IPA Beer bottle costume--I would help with that, too. ;-)

Follow-up Post:

Paul--that is the funniest avatar I have ever seen. Ice cream came out of my nose. Cold and painful, yet with an oddly satisfying numbing effect. Chocolate after smell. Minty.

Seems were all over the board here, but I'm game for a leg on the east coast fi we do the relay thing. I think a cute toy doesn't fit though! These are land rovers - a third member or something would be more appropriate. Maybe a box of spares with the goal of not depleting them before the end (or making it grow)
