100% agreed.
Don't see the mediation as the solution. They frequently fail.

Good morning to all!

Below is a link to a NY Times Article that ran just a couple of weeks ago regarding another seizure and forfeiture case here in the Eastern District of North Carolina. Some of you may even have read it:

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/01/us...some.html?_r=0

Again, this article ran approximately two weeks ago. It is worth noting that the named prosecutor, Steve West, is the same AUSA (Assistant US Attorney) that I'm sparring with in our case. Fast-forward to yesterday in both the NY Times and the News & Observer (the local paper here in Raleigh):

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/14/us...?emc=eta1&_r=0

Prosecutors drop IRS seizure case against Fairmont convenience store owner | News & Observer News & Observer

It would appear that the winds of change are a blowin'.........

And, here's another article regarding yet another case here in the Eastern District of North Carolina that was also recently dismissed:

Update:

A settlement conference before a federal magistrate judge (acting as mediator) here in the Eastern District of North Carolina has been set and ordered for next Friday May 29th (see Order attached below).

FYI, it will be a closed proceeding, so unless you are an involved party, you won't be allowed to come hang out and watch.

Sorry......

Interesting. So the part about insurance.... Will insurance pay a claim if the government steals your vehicle, I mean seizes it, just like they would if some random hoodlum steals it?

Usually one boils it down to the government has the legitimate control of violence, that can be challenged of course but it rarely goes well for the challenger.

What I always find interesting is when people think it is something more than that at the end of the day.

This article by James May has been posted elsewhere before, but I do not think that it would be inappropriate for me to post again:

http://www.topgear.com/uk/james-may/...der-2004-01-01

I'm heading down to Wilmington today in advance of mediation tomorrow morning in our case. While I am cautiously optimistic, it has the potential to be a very big day.

Everybody's support in our case has been and is very much appreciated. This is an amazing community and I only hope that I can provide our fellow owners with the justice we've sought together, that being the return of those very things which bind us together, and which we all hold sacred.

Great article Will. I've never read that one. Like how he compares the Defender to a watch or shotgun handed down.

Good luck tomorrow!

Big day today....I was up before daybreak having decided that watching the sunrise would provide me with some good meditation before attending mediation later this morning.

Everyones thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated today. My thanks to all.
