Ironic that Jalopnik depicts a Puma with their illustration. That is BS.

Just read this article. I still don't understand why the trucks can't claim the same safety standards as the 1993 110 or other NAS models.

This is basically how legislation works.

A paper is given to an administrator of the law which states, "vehicles of this model and make between 1993 and 1997 are legal to import."

A reasonable person asks the executor, "Why can't I import a 2007 truck? It is essentially identical to a 1993-1997 truck."

The executor looks at the paper in his hand and says, "Well, if it's not on the list, you can't import it."

Therefore, if one wants the conversation to continue in a way that favors their perspective, they'll have to think of the legislative equivalent of a response.

Thanks for posting this up y'all! I'm going to post it over to the main seizure thread too, if y'all don't mind taking the conversation back over there.

Edit: Mods, if possible can you all merge the threads? Thanks!

In general, I think if you asked us to do a back flip off the diving board into ice cold water, most of us would give it our best try.

That is to say everyone appreciates your efforts, Will.

Without having the chance to actually read the article yet, I'm happy to see so many people posting positive responses to the article.

Regardless of the stupidity of the law at hand, the government is just going about this whole thing in such a bad way -- the more people who know about it the better.

Hi Will, firstly I want to thank you (again) for the work you have been doing on this case.

I wanted to bring an item to your attention that you may or may not have considered.

On the point of VIN tampering due to chassis replacement, has there not been a precedent set by the recall of Toyota trucks for replacement frames due to rust? This was I believe a Federally mandated safety recall and it affected millions of vehicles - which are now on our roads with "tampered" VINs.
