I hope this becomes the interpretation of the law (or regulations) again.

Will, I wanted to copy and paste this from your earlier post. Hoping we can all take this message and see it's merit.

"If your goal is to help the individuals who've been effected, then I would ask that you consider posting only when you have something pertinent or helpful to add. Keep theories to yourself. If you're not sure if what you have is pertinent or helpful, then feel free to drop me a PM or send me an email."

I have a pretty good understanding of what is happening. And it is good to see the information that is pertinent finally surfacing about the situation.

But I had a request for Doug Crowther. Because it seems important that people get a more basic understanding of the actual facts of what the warrant did wrong having those vehicles seized.

Could you take an example of one of the VIN's supplied in the warrant and decode it correctly in a post and compare it to what the JLRNA employee did in the information supplied to the Customs officials in the warrant. My understanding is that there are errors in this information. And maybe not everyone reading this post will have a basic understanding of these errors. It may seem like something to simple to explain, but I think the information is important as a matter of record here. I understand there are corrections on these errors that are going to be submitted soon, but it seems important that the information supplied to justify these seizures should be scrutinized here before it is corrected.

Doug has supplied some of the most important information about the importation process already in this thread and it would carry weight if he would explain these basic issues and help others to question the motives and evidence justifying the actions taken seizing these vehicles.

Thanks

Sadly in the eyes of the CBP ( even with a great attorney ) .. good faith gets your truck back only to be sent 100% bonded back to where originally came from

Jim,
I think that while I completely understand everyone's incredible need to understand, given the fact that we are fully aware that the agent in charge is following this thread I am going to decline to explain anything further than I already have. We all want the same outcome here and I assure you all Will is working the salient points and has a meeting setup for tomorrow. It is my sincere hope he might be able to share more tomorrow evening.
I guess what I'm saying is Will is on point, and we need to give him the floor space to dance. I truly appreciate an attorney whom I can share everything with including my frustrations and once understood, wants to effect some permanent changes in policy based on the vast gulf behind what the law says and what is being enforced. But that's a secondary goal to these guys and their trucks.

What I will address is that I'm shocked that after Will outlined we learned that government agents surveilled the owners of the 40 trucks named in the warrant for weeks/ months preceding this seizure. The DHS agents surveilled the owners, and their family's at their homes, at work, even their parents homes were surveilled etc. Not one single person said a thing. After literally hundreds of posts where idiots pontificated, and conspiracy theorists ran wild with zero factual basis and forum members lashed out @ each other and name calling commonplace. You were all supplied factual information that these people, guilty of nothing more than owning a truck bought @ a car dealership, whom have committed no crimes were literally watched by our government KGB style and not one person had a single damn comment.

I'm amazed that this offended/ shocked/amazed no one other than Will and I.

The silence was deafening.

Perhaps some are refraining from commenting due to who is following this thread. KGB style is not hyperbole. It's a very sad state of affairs.

Doug,

I am as shocked and terrified as you are about the surveillance. I just didn't comment because I was busy booking one-way tickets to move back to socialist Sweden were we don't have to worry about those kind of abusive privacy violations. It bears repeating: Please refrain from commenting or speculating. We already have 46 pages of banter and bickering already which is more than enough. Let's have some radio silence until we are given more facts on the matter. Something good may come out of this unfortunate turn of events. Please exercise some restraint and patience. Thank you.

"bear in mind that DHS conducted surveillance on the vehicle owners in the weeks and months prior to their seizures. I would ask how you would feel if you found out the government had been watching you at home while playing in the front yard with your kids, or watching you at work, or even watching your parents house? You're assuming that there isn't a federal agent already allowed in the Mud Pit.

Though now that you mention it.....I'm not even sure that I'm allowed in the Mud Pit? I've never been in that forum as far as I can recall.

I wonder if the FEDS are booking their tickets to the upcoming events. Guys, if you see a JEEP or GMC at the events, its not one of us. DON'T WINCH THE BLOODY BASTARDS.

This.

I was pretty blown away when first reading it and would feel like a total ass if me buying a Defender would put my family at a place where they were to be under surveillance.

This whole thing has left a bad taste. For the above reasons and like I said in a prior post the amount of resources and money spent in this "witch hunt". Plenty of other cool old 4x4's to wrench on for less headaches and costs.

Good luck Will, Doug and the owners effected.
