No your just talking about a standard bulb configuration, the FMVSS directive for headlights didn't come till after seatbelts.

"Standard No. 108 - Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment - Passenger Cars, Multipurpose Passenger Vehicles, Trucks, Buses, Trailers, (except pole trailers and trailer converter dollies), and Motorcycles (Effective 1-1-68 for vehicles 2,032 mrn (80 or more inches) in width and Effective 1-1-69 for all other vehicles)
This standard specifies requirements for original and replacement lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. Its purpose is to reduce traffic crashes and deaths and injuries resulting from traffic crashes, by providing adequate illumination of the roadway, and by enhancing the conspicuity of motor vehicles on the public roads so that their presence is perceived and their signals understood, both in daylight and in darkness or other conditions of reduced visibility"

Jeff

I think we all missed the real identity of this conspirator.
That is the designer of the freelander and co-designer of the DC100.

He may be behind all the JLRNA antics against the defender line. Trying to crush the real competition for his car line to be recognized for something other then a mall crawler.

The last decade has not been kind to this chap. Looking a little ragged.

This is an awful situation for so many folks. Sorry for your losses. Glad WillH is able to devote some time in an effort to help the situation. Thanks Will !

But in all seriousness, Doug's suggestion of taking this to JLRNA has merit.

My brother who pays zero attention to defenders or really anything car related sent me this article today. Not sure if it's been posted yet, but is proof that this story is hitting the general public and not simply us rover / auto enthusiasts ... http://m.autoblog.com/2014/07/17/lan...usaolp00000595

On a side note, the same morning that all this seizure stuff came out, I got a letter from my health insurance company stating that my policy (which also covers my son, and pregnant wife) has been officially canceled effective Jan. 1. Nothing better than a government that forces a pregnant women off her health insurance and steals a mans car huh?

Howdy all

New guy here who has bee causally looking for an 80s LR for a few years, having previously owned some FJ62s.

I've been watching the auctions by the UK based sellers on eBay, but have been reluctant to get involved in that for a number of reasons, now especially with the seizures. Plus I've sold some cars to overseas guys, and after seeing what a buyer had to do to take a late model car from the US to Canada, I just decided not to get involved in importation.

So what would you guys suggest to be some safe guidelines for buying an LR from a basic legal ownership standpoint?

Thanks,

SR

Welcome; go to the for sale section of this board and click the 'what's legal' section. It's been covered, at length, and this (believe it or not) is not the correct thread for such an inquiry
