Why would anyone invite them into their home ? Maybe its just my conservative right perspective but that's akin to lifting the lid on pandora's box.

The story of the customs officers knocking on the gun collectors door in Fredricksburg Virginia comes to mind.

You're over thinking it… a casual stroll through the registry on this site and if you know what to look for there are plenty of trucks of the wrong vintage with visible license plates… not that hard.

This has never been about national security, the C in CBP is Customs, which was the first revenue producing entity the US created (long before income tax). The post 9/11 conflation of multiple agencies that Doug listed in the name of efficiency has optimized stuff like this combination of CBP, DoT, EPA, and other entities.

Not that this website doesn't represent an easily searchable treasure trove for the newest intern in the Fed Gov't to exploit.

Not a value judgment or a political statement mind you, and I am very sorry that members have had their property seized given they purchased it in good faith.

So the all thing is based on custom violations ?
Still disproportioned imo.

I'm betting they had zero notice.

That's how a 6am raid works. show up while people are asleep and the feds do their business.

I'm not surprised they confiscated them... but Homeland Security? I would have thought it would be some other agency.

I am talking about those who have just had there truck taken. I see no problem with them disclosing who the original importer is - their truck has already been taken. But it sounds like this has been answered. Really sucks.

if they take my 109, I would save thousands a year in repair bills. but they had better bring a tow truck and there's a 50% chance it will be at a mechanic on any given day.

if all 160 are D's, that's a bunch. I can't imagine there are more than a few hundred 80's imports in the country at this point, assuming the majority were brought in legally.

If D's that legit guys like Doug brought in start getting seized, I'm moving Down Under, because you know the rules have changed forever.

Apparently we don't have anything else in this country to worry about other than old rusty Defenders... Glad they got that whole southern border mess cleaned up.

I cannot remember am I supposed to blame Bush or Obama this time ;-)

If they take mine, they are blind. The VIN is on the frame, brake booster, AND the seat box.

Also, I'll be walking, because my LR3 needs an engine at the moment.

This is probably exactly what's going on. Kind of like when Clinton bombed Iraq during his Monica scandal. Ok, maybe not exactly the same
