Likely going after all/most of the trucks imported by a single (or a couple) of importers, considering that Zach's and Chris's trucks otherwise look like run of the mill greater than 25 year old trucks that don't look all that special - i.e. not the VIN swapped defenders that Homeland Security had told Car and Driver that they'd actually be focusing on.

It would appear these seizures are related to the ongoing investigation into the dealership that was in Wilmington NC. If your truck didn't come from there you probably don't need to go hiding it in a corn field.

mine was just taken too. mine had been in since 2009, I'd owned since 2012. if anyone would like to consider a lawsuit against the importer, if that's a possible avenue, I would be interested.

It seems this was a coordinated effort. All the vehicles probably were taken around the same time.

probably not something that should be discussed in too much detail on here. If I was looking to seize defenders I'm sure this forum would give me most if not all of the information i need to go find them.

Pretty sure they know who they are targeting already. Speculation guys, why are we throwing out names without knowing any info? I'm sorry this has happened but, disclosing the importer is the best thing to help any other members out.

How much notice were you given before your trucks were taken?

We need the full story, not just "oh hey, DHS came and took my truck today..."

It's likely far easier for the government to take any records from a single importer (or a couple), determine who the trucks were sold to, and go from there (especially if they had grounds to investigate in the past), rather than tracking down IP addresses etc. from a forum of a ton of individuals, and going on a wild goose chase seizing what may be legitimately imported that are all on the up and up.

I would imagine a lawsuit would be futile for recovery of dollars, it would seem they/he knew this was coming and assets would have been diluted. Charges leading to incarceration maybe an avenue, but I'm sure that's a possibility from the Feds. Their stuff would come first. In the end before you even got organized and to the bench there would be nothing left.

On the up side NAS just increased in value!

Still don't get how those trucks were a threat for national security

Cheers

It was in relation to N.C.
They already know who's they are looking for.
This forum is unlikely to implicate you.
I believe mine to be legit, however they are collecting evidence.
The officers were nice and professional, and showed me on the paperwork they left me how to file my claim. Which is being done now.

This is completely correct, this is all done by VIN. They are hunting VIN's imported by one importer.

That said this forum is and always has been a cornucopia for an investigator. Many here type before thinking. I have said/warned so dozens of times.

Yes. Just spoke to a customer who is sitting with CBP in his living room at the moment. I believe Aaron/GB4x4 is the common denominator here.

There are hundreds of legitimate imported LRs in the USA. The PITA will be recovering the vehicle after the fact. Paperwork, calls and a lengthy window of time. Unfortunately, damn near every gov't agency falls under Homeland Security these days so it's hard to say who you're really dealing with.
