Got my Rover back!

Will also helped me get my Rover back! We picked it up today. I plan to document the two and a half year saga soon. Now, I'm just happy to have my Grover back. Thanks, Will!

Congratulations Fin! Two and a half years?! That's horrid. I'm so happy for you and I could gush all day about Will. I admire, respect and appreciate him for all that he has done. He has worked so hard. Truly an amazing individual. Congratulations again!

Great news to hear more trucks have been returned. I'd be curious to see how the case against Dr Aaron is playing out. Any updates?

Hey, busy week last week, so I took the weekend off! I picked up four trucks on Friday, including Kent's & Fin's, all of whom are pro bono clients. Fin & another client both came up to Virginia Beach from NC with trailers to pick-up their 110's themselves. I transported Kent's 110 and the another Rover myself. The other truck is currently still on the trailer here in my custody awaiting transport. I have forwarded Fin & the other owners pictures from the day, but I will allow them to post those, if they so choose.

I do want to give a shout out to Brian K. (a.k.a., Brewie) & his shop, LRC Customs, for volunteering use of the trailer for this run! Many thanks on behalf of both me and my clients sir!

I still have three more client vehicles that I am waiting on the release of in relation to the Patterson Auto/GB 4x4 case. One is in Virginia Beach, VA & the other two are in Savannah, GA. The second two were just released by the Assistant U.S. Attorney last week, stating they were "no longer of interest in the criminal investigation." I am waiting to receive communication from CBP with regard to its intentions where these two vehicles are concerned.

Lastly, I have been to both of the locations I mentioned above and I have seen about a dozen or more Land Rovers being held at the government contractors' facilities aside from my own clients' vehicles. Pursuant to what I know, I feel safe in assuming that the majority of those vehicles were seized in Wilmington, NC. And, I am taken to understand that the criminal investigation of the importer is still ongoing.

Here are me and Will at the impound lot picking up Grover. We were surprised when it was running as we walked up! Now that it is home, I've looked closer and it is in rough shape after sitting outside uncovered for two and a half years. Not sure what I'm going to do.

You're lucky to find yours running. Mine was dead, and it was evident that the truck sat the whole 2 and a half years outside, without any sort of attention whatsoever. Despite being told by CBP officials that it was started and ran around the lot once a week to keep it in good working order..... Yea right. Lies.

F@#$ the feds.

Hey Kent,
I saw yours there. They told us they all 4 started except mine, so they jump-started mine so it could drive off the lot. That implies that they thought yours would start and drive away.

I'm still troubleshooting all that is wrong with mine, but massive rusting in firewall/floors/hinges/exhaust, water intrusion, defective diff-lock, inoperative turn signals, and dry-rotted tires are all obvious to me so far. I'm guessing I'm looking at a frame-off resto. Wondering how much that will set me back.

They probably told that same story to everyone that came to pick one up. "Oh yeah all of the others started. We don't know what's wrong with your vehicle."

I am SO appalled by this thread I have few words, at present.

In 2005 I was refused permission, due to brain dead regs, supposedly about vehicle safety in North America, to import my long term, legal, Defender 110, Cuthbert, to Canada when I moved here from the UK.

Uncle Doug on here may know of Willetts, (sp?) in the UK? Going back now to 2005.

They sold me a pup. Which luckily, I did NOT put in my container.

It is a LONG story.

The only reason I sniffed that Willets Landy out before it got on the boat is that my parents lived in Swansea, base of the UK DVLA. (Vehicle and driver's license admin center for whole UK.) Willet's were slow to send me needed import docs for the 110 I bought off them, so I went to DVLA in person with its plate number, Willets had given me, and started making a fuss.

THEN the can of worms opened BIG TIME.
