That's great Will! Two of my cousins guest lecture at their alma maters and one of them enjoyed it so much he moved back to Texas to teach a summer course. He's in his third summer now and was even interviewed by the local news. Pretty cool. I'm sure the students really enjoyed hearing from you and learning from your experiences.

Words cannot describe how pumped I am. Started right up and seems only slightly rustier than when it was taken. It does run but is stumbling a good deal at higher rpm. Any advice for this oil burner?

Maybe fresh fuel and fuel filter? Also check air filter condition?

Congrats!

Congratulations Kevin! Glad to see she's back home! A sight for sore eyes I am sure!

As with all my other clients, it has been my pleasure and an honor sir! I'm glad that I was able to help!
Thanks for sharing her return with all of us, and Welcome Home!!!

Have you changed the timing belt?

Have you checked the timing?

So on Friday this past week, I went and gave a two and a half our lecture to a group of aspiring attorneys! It was an awesome moment for me! I never expected to be asked to do something like this, truly another defining moment in my legal career! And, the students really seemed to enjoy it! She's actually already asked to come back and give my presentation again in the fall!

My thanks goes out to our fellow member and his spouse for giving me this opportunity! I had an awesome time!
Awesome!

Teaching is addictive (I have been an adjunct law prof for four years).

Replaced the belt and set the timing about 10k miles ago so I don't think it'd be the culprit

There are things that grow in diesel fuel right at the separation layer between the fuel and the contaminants (usually water) that forms when the vehicle sits for some time. Best thing to do is completely flush the fuel tank and fuel system and change the fuel filters after the flush (maybe twice). If its not too rusty you might want to pull the fuel tank out of the truck and have it boiled out.

You might want to get your injectors cleaned and adjusted too - that should cost under $150.

Congratulations on getting your truck back - your truck is so obviously over 25 years old I was shocked to hear yours was confiscated.

please also take into consideration that those belts have a time limit also. The tech manual says 36 months.

I would throw some diesel 911 in the tank and change your filters and run the shut out of her.

Stumbling @ higher rpms sounds like fuel starvation like Capt Mclean suggested.

It's been a little over 18 months since I replaced it. Grabbing some 911 to dump in the tank and will report back in the morning

I didn't drain the fuel, it was almost full as it sat.
I checked/lubricated and greased everything.
Charged the battery while doing so, and she started right up.
Brakes need attention, tires don't have any flat spots.
It was stored outside, fenced in.
Here are fun vids/photos!

Ha!!

Chris, that Photoshop of me into your picture has me rolling! To quote Mater from my son's favorite movie, Disney Pixar's "Cars", "I don't care who you are, that's funny right there!"

P.S.- It makes me look like a giant!

That's what happens when their idea of "storage" is just to drop it in a field and let it rot. Hopefully yours is being held indoors and/or in competent hands
