If the purchaser was privy to a stolen or counterfeit VIN then they are equally responsible. I hope that not the case.

Just no way to ever know, but I personally have some doubt in my mind. What stinks is that these (allegedly) lazy Fs sold the trucks they bought to second and third owners who are now stuck with a big fat hole where their money used to be.

The 2nd and 3rd owners have no recourse. It sucks indeed and it won't help the resale market for properly imported trucks either. This cloud will follow all ROW trucks for a long time.

My take on today. While none of my 500+ clients were effected, I totally feel for those who were.

The people who were, are all the risk adverse types. These were guys who did not want to run the risk of importing a vehicle based only on pictures provided by the seller, or dealing with US Customs.

They bought vehicles that were already here and titled and bought them from a NC licensed and bonded dealership with the ability to go look the vehicle over and test drive it before purchasing, something most of us with imported trucks take a leap of faith/gamble on.

There is a lot of speculation posted in this thread and many have advertised their ignorance on the import process as well as the seizure process. Don't get me wrong it's good to have no knowledge of the back end process but if you have no knowledge on a subject, put the key board down.
The vins sought today are a matter of record. Everyone approached today was handed a warrant. All of the Vin's sought are listed on each of those warrants. Yes many have double checked their vins against the warrants, some gained piece of mind, others hid their trucks.

FWIW pretty sure the entity in NC never imported 160 vehicles. There is a ton of misinformation in this thread and many have made errant posts that others have taken as gospel and run with for pages with comments. A wealth of cool aid drinkers here.
If you emailed me or pm'd me today and got a terse response or a full on bitch slap, I apologize but perhaps you stepped into it.

People who went do a dealership and purchased a vehicle that was later seized for unknown reasons knew the possible outcomes? Explain please?

The reality is the "why" these vehicles have been taken is still the unknown to the general public - just like it was back in March 2013.

Define "dealer"
Some guy. With a double-wide or an early html site playing off your boyhood desires?
Please.
They put aside their instincts and dove into the deep end

Not everyone who bought those trucks and had them seized are land rover enthusiasts who spend hours on defender source. Majority of them saw a registered and titles vehicle that had CLEARED CUSTOMS, why would they have raised a concern?

Actually that's a perfect example of an ignorant post, you have made several. They didn't gamble, they bought trucks that were here and titled in the US from a licensed and bonded dealership because they were risk adverse. The suspected crime was perpetrated by the importer and was totally unknown to these buyers.

You just showed what kind of guy you are.
