Lightbulb Door hinges...

Back from the door hinge thread. I received an email from Tony of motosource last night. Detailing some of the products he's working on. Namely, stailess/anodized door hinges. Here' s a pick he sent, and the release date appears to be around Christmas of this year:

I thought about painting mine black since I smashed a couple of them on rocks, but it look like those hinges will work for me better.
Let us know when they hit the market.

P.S. Isn't Tony the guy that makes the SS hardware kit that AB sells?

Yes, he is. He also makes a diamond plate door sill that AB sells, and some other stuff.

Dave

Will he offer them "as is" so that we could paint them if we wanted to?

That looks like a thin pin going through the middle - they wont rust but do you suppose they'll last any better than stock?

Now if he makes rear door hinges that can withstand the battering from the spare tire carrier, then I definitely want a set.

I dont think the hinges are the weak point in the SW rear door. The fact that the door is more than once piece is what causes the problems. The rear door is good for what it does not haulin around a mud grip tire. IMHO the only solution to the rear tire is a spare tire carrier such as the mantec or to put it on the hood.

I'd be interested in an unpainted version, or white, as well.

Tony just sent me an email over the weekend with a whole bunch of pictures. I didnt get a chance to read closely or look at the pictures but it was about something new he had and it may be these. I will look tonight at the email and post them.

Here are some more pictures of the aluminum billet door hinges. These pictures from Tony are the prototypes, the finished product will be anodized black, and they'll have stainless pivot pins and bushings and be packaged with stainless fasteners.

Talking aluminum billet door hinges

hey guys, thanks for the positive feedback towards our hinges. the photos are the prototypes, we should have complete kits available in december. the hinges are machined from aluminum billet, the pivot pins are stainless steel, there are stainless steel bushings in the pivot plate as well as oil holes in the back. the hinges will be annodized in black. i have a white d90 and painted stock hinges black, they look great. plus black goes well with any color defender. i hope to hit a retail pricepoint of $250.00-$300.00 for a complete kit including all stainless steel fasteners for mounting. if you have a d110, you'll need two d90 kits plus a "110 retro kit" with the appropriate mounting hardware plus plugs for the mirror mounting holes. keep an eye on my site it's on the links for updates. also i'd love to talk to any of you regarding our products. my number is 914-271-6661. i'm in new york. thanks, tony. out.
