Time to fit and paint 5 days (40hrs) per the Kahn site. People have bought vehicles since they were invented based on appearance as opposed to utility. The people buying unique things based on appearance typically are a different demographic and socioeconomic group to those buying based on utility or economy. Why bash Mark for catering to those people ? Look @ the crap celebrity's buy from West Coast Customs for stupid money. I'd far rather have a himalaya truck for the same stupid money.

Not one of you commented on the Masai "panoramic" windows that come right down to the capping.

It is not best that we should all think alike; it is a difference of opinion that makes horse races.

Personally, I think of West Coast Defenders as more of a producer of douche-mobiles compared to Himalaya but I only say that because WCD has never been a part of this board or contributed in any way. WCD is just another dude with a trust fund playing trucks.

Himalaya is a board member, has contributed (continuously and in spite of harsh criticism) and appears to take pride in his work (which is way more than we can say about most UK restorers). Sure, the plastic flares are a little over-the top and if you're going to make a Defender wider you may as well buy a Hummer, but man this crowd is harsh!

Similar to others here, I'd love to see some mid-restoration photos and build threads that contribute technically. Not every Defender has to be a trail rig with 33s and I'm not a fan of 22" Daytons and chrome on a Defender, but let's not eviscerate somebody for posting some high-quality images of his work. I think it's pretty well documented that 90% of the guys on this board would not prefer to roll in a pimped-out Himilaya, but lets look past that (the personal taste) and lets see some "money-shots" of the frame-off restoration and such. I appreciate quality craftsmanship and pride in the work.

Himilaya can also contiue to post spoofy promo videos with fake army dudes and hot women too because I personally find them amusing as all hell. Keep em coming!

EDIT: Funny-I hadn't read Doug's post before I sent mine. Same thing I'm saying.

I like the Chelsea Wide Body. I think it looks great on a one ten too. I'm also curious if its ABS or fiberglass. I would hope it be ABS. Well I actually hope it's Fiberglass so I won't put it on my dream parts list.

For 2500GBP, I want it in double-layer AR500 steel and for it to shrug off oblique hits from M995's

If it was ballistic kevlar add on armor for military applications or high threat situations, I would consider it. If it's ABS, it's almost as bad as that kit made to try and make a TJ wrangler look like a Hummer. There one running around in my zip code and that one makes me physically ill everytime I see it.

the difference between the two is the Khan kit just tries to make the Defender look a little different. The jeep kit by trying to make the jeep look like something else, just makes every owner a total wannabe.

I prefer the more subtle body kits, the Kahn is a little vibrant for me. More my style...

I saw plenty of that when I was living in Manchester. I am curious about the material. At 2500GBP, I kind of would expect metal.

The Khan Chelsea widebody Kit is made of Carbon Fibre. It is a lot of work to make it fit. A lot of modification is needed to make it work with NAS trucks. A good body and paint technician needs to seamlessly attach the kit to the panels. This requires many hours of fitting, bonding, and sanding so that it looks like it was built that way. Done properly it looks amazing.

The 110 kit was manufactured after I submitted a revised design to Khan. They liked what they saw and put it into production. We are building a 110 Himalaya Khan.

I am currently working with their production team to revise the design accordingly.

Seeing this truck in person is very impressive. We are putting a lift kit on it so the tires clear properly.

Thanks Mark, it's difficult to get a lot of information on these aftermarket parts - so it's good to hear from someone who actually gets to work with them!

Why does carbon fiber make everything more desirable. I have CF wheels on my Ducati makes me drool every time I see them.
