Higher strength U-joints?

So far I've put 2 x Neapco 1-0005 Autozone sourced U-Joints (the Made in America ones) in my 90. the rear of the front driveshaft, then 8 months later the rear of the rear. Now the rear of the front has a tiny bit of play in it again... I've greased the hell out of them (probably every few months). But its a bit annoying. Yes its an older truck so these things happen, but I was hoping anybody knew of a source for HD (but OEM sized) u-joints. If that doesn't exist, I may just end up replacing the actual driveshafts with bolt-in HD (larger/CV joints) and calling it a day.

I've used both the neapco and precision, the only two domestic u-joints that fit that I know of (the Spicer 5-4x is NLA) and not seen any difference, aside from price.
There are Hardy-Spicer from the UK.

Actually, I think Tom Woods sells a 1300 series.

The stock U-joints ARE 1300 series. Tom woods sells 1310 series joints. These are the same as used in Series 3 and early Defender. It is not much difference in size.

I meant I think he sells a 1300 series also.

But looking at his site (quickly), I don't see them.

A of couple questions for the OP. It doesn't sound like strength is the issue for you.
When you grease the u-joint, are you pumping in grease until you see new grease from around all 4 seals on each u-joint. If not, that is your problem.
It's imperative that you get new grease coming from under all 4 seals on each u-joint.
Also, when you installed them, did you grease them correctly before installation, or at least after, before putting them in to service?

I called them today, no 1300 series u-joints.

To answer your question, yes I've greased them thoroughly upon install, old grease (then a bit of new) coming out of all 4 points. I just gave them a few extra pumps now.

Chances are you have excessive angle issues (or not enough odd as that may sound) if they are not lasting very long. That or they are being stressed on instal?

i don't know, will keep greasing and replacing as needed I guess until I just replace the shafts with something larger.

Sounds like you have an issue unrelated to u-joint type.

Joints wearing is not a size or strength issue. You need to find and solve the root cause....

Maybe its as simple as a driveshaft not being perfectly balanced, everything else seems pretty tight with no rattles or play.
