Here is my concept for what a new USA Defender commercial could look like

My friends and I took a 3500-mile trip around the southwest in my '94 D90 (purchased in LA on this board about 4 years ago) to shoot this concept for a new Defender commercial. Obviously, this is jumping the gun on just about every level, but we thought it would be a fun exercise and, if nothing else, and amazing trip. We're pretty proud of it. Hopefully if/when the Defender comes back, it's something that we'll all still be as excited about.

Check out the final product here:

and a sort of "making of" that shows a little more of the journey here:

We got a little press on the two of them on Supercomressor, which has been very cool. It has a bit more of our story, photos, etc.:

Hope this isn't too self-promotional, I just thought you guys would be pretty into it, too. Let me know what you think!

Wow calm down there sir! You know you couldn't fit nearly the necessary exploration equipment you'd need in that little brown bomber

Zach you may be right, I would probably have to go solo and use the passenger side for storage.

Great job, though I almost like the 'making' reel better, Frankie's gun is stuck in my head...

Really, really, really well done! Quite Moving!
"God made a farmer"-Ram = Tear jerker!
"American Dream"-Cadillac = In your face Awesome!
"Defender returning to America"-You (LRNA one day) = Inspirational!

Edit... Oops! I forgot Clint Eastwood's Jeep commercial! = Who we are!

I also agree that the "Making Of" made me happier than the actual product. But then again Josh (crash303) and I have done almost the exact kind of road trip, minus RV. It's very easy to relate to.

Too bad for the RV, I was thinking I wasn't the only one to take a 3000 mile trip in a D90 with four people.

Very well made video Alex. It definitely makes me want to take my Defender out west.

It's extremely well done. Congrats you should be proud!

Honestly for me though I hope Land Rover never brings the Defender back to the U.S. (or at least not for a long time). For me hanging on to these few remaining NAS models adds to the mystique of the Defender and what makes it so cool and legendary. If they were common here like the ROW I think it may ruin it for me. I love its quirks, I love how it is not ordinary and I love how people of all ages react to it with a smile. Most of all I love how it inspires that sense of "adventure" that resides in all of us.

Your "commercial" instills all those same reactions (at least for me it does). And for me, that's better than having a shiny new 2015 Defender NAS any day.
