Help with shipping from the UK

Does anyone have any inside scoop on shipping big stuff from the UK? I found a headliner for next to nothing but the guy is telling me it's 450 or 500 bucks to ship. Besides hitching a ride in someones container what is the best way to deal with this?

Thanks, Jason

Second that for ATLCruiser

Also, Julian K (gobal landrovers) is shipping occasionally to Colorado (or at least he was) so you might also ping him in the future....

Find someone importing a truck to CA and see if you can convince them to put it in?

Something large like a headliner will cost a fortune to ship to Ca if it enters via East coast. My best intents have been for naught several times trying to help others out when it comes to savings. I have shipped/imported several trucks into Tacoma, but ro/ro and they can't have anything in the truck but a jack and a spare ro/ro. Have you checked with Safari Rover ? He can often ship stuff to me cheaper than I can buy, import and pick up items for myself. The shipping line I usually use won't accept any freight smaller than a pallet. I recently shipped and imported a Sankey for Nathanwind but just getting it delivered to Liverpool on the UK side cost a tad over $300 before it even loaded into the container.

A while back I was thinking of doing one of the Lasalle headliners and I am pretty sure he quoted me like 150 or 200 US. I have to find out how they ship theirs over here. I agree putting it in a container and then boxing it up and getting it to Ca sounds like it will end up being more of a pain in the ass. Stephen is bringing some in his next container, I guess I will just buy one from him. Its so frustrating to find a complete headliner for a couple of hundred bucks and not be able to buy it. I may still just buy a POS one and recover it. Thanks for the advice, J

I can ship in a new one cheap from the UK or least I used to be able to get them here for under $200.00 but I refuse to do used or NTO unless I can see them first.

Look locally. It really is the best option.

If anyone is bringing a container over I'd like to stuff some parts in, particularly a gas tank skid and front bumper. Or if anyone has a lead, please let me know.
