Hehe, I'm bargaining with this guy on a factory crate 4.4 block for LR3 RR

This guy I know has a new 4.4 Long block in the wooden crate in the green plastic wrap with the oil timing and oil filter installed. I went over there to inspect it, its the jag/ford one not the bmw one and it is definately a brand new block with timing covers and shit. He said the guy who owned the house a few years ago was a LR mechanic and ended up with this engine. I offered 500 tonight, he said he wants 700 bux. I looked at it closely, it was brand spanking new!!! I can tell from the metal/seals. What do you guys think I should do? I mean I'd be damn surprised if it wasn't new but I'm sure it is. One of those rare finds.

Show up $500 in cash. If he is on the fence, that will get the deal done. Keep an exta $50 in your wallet in case he needs a little extra. Good luck.

Well heres the way I see it. I don't actually need the engine, but this motor has to cost like what 20K? at least that. The heads are on it, valve covers, timing cover, its ready to go in. I own my LR3 so I want to keep it for the rest of my life (I'm crazy like that with cars) so I figure why not just horde a long block for cheap and save it right? I'll shoot for 650 hehe. Lets see what he says.

$20k... not likely, maybe the truck, but not just an engine... Listen to Julian...

1000? Were talking the jag 4.4 not the rover 4.6 This motor has to be at least 10-13k I would imagine from the dealership. 20+ if installed. Remember this is the motor they put on 05-09 LR3 and Full size and sport Range rovers from 06-09. I will inspect it again because it has no warranty, this guy lives is a shitty area of East Los Angeles, lots of gangs where he lives, i will roll again with my .45 HK. Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll try the roll of 20's thing haha

Neil, while travelling the Street of East LA, please do as follows: ( besides being heavily armed )

Place Land Rover hat SIDEWAYS
Wear lots of Jewelry
In the absence of real ones , place stick on tats all over your arms
Finally , when coming to a stop and people are close to your vehicle simply say " ORALE BATO, SUP "

Running your vehicle on Chromed Spinners it is optional and highly recommended

Should I wear my green Land Rover cardigan sleeveless sweater lifted over my belly to show my "Thug Life" tatoo?

He said when he moved into this house, the PO was a land rover tech/mechanic. He said the guy just left the block insid the garage, they didn't even know what it was until they took the wooden cover over it. He said the owner probably couldn't get it out of the garage anymore because its so heavy, this thing must weight like 6-700 lbs if not more (yikes) I saw the wooden box, the wooden crate the long block is resting on, its inside the LR green plastic bag they used to ship motors in except this fuckign thing is massive. I couldn't believe my eyes, he knows its worth bucks but nobody is gonna pay him big $$$ for a motor they don't know is stolen, not working etc. But just from my experience in LR, this motor looks brand fucking new, I looked at every single detail including the rear crankshaft, its CLEAN! I will try and see if he will take 650, I told him I'm a poor student and moneys tight and that I like to collect parts because its my only hobby I'm gonna wear my dirty shorts and a "BIG Dog" ratty shirt like I did when I came over to look at it. The only thing im worried about is how to get it into my truck, the fucking thing is a gigantic Long block and his family are like small Mexicans.
