heated windsheild anyone ?

I have found a source for these in the UK who might be willing to deliver them to the warehouse I work with if I order enough of them. These will be aftermarket replacements and will be approx $325 ea plus shipping from the East coast to your destination. The only point of reference I have stateside is RN for $895 but theirs are genuine LR. These are oem but don't have the land rover emblem-ie not genuine parts.

I'd like one for that magical day in the future when I tear the 130 apart and install the galvanized bulkhead, convert to lhd with the td5 dash I have had for some time now, and add the elite a/c system thats been lying around in a box for 2 yrs.
Let me know-perhaps I can put together a group buy.

There was a group buy by a bunch of series guys on the guns&rovers forum last year or earlier this year I believe. They got Rovahfarm to handle the logistics(?) if I remember correctly. There hasnt been to much write up on the thread about installation and what have you thou. I have read good things about the ricky evans product. I too have been tempted to order the military heated windshield as well.

Point is I'm trying to work a deal where these would be: 1) delivered to the warehouse-from a vendor who's not over 100 miles away 2) vat exempt from the get go since they are being delivered to an export warehouse

Thats where the savings lay. Everyone is 140-160gbp before VAT and carriage on these.

This makes sense for the vendor only on a fairly large scale.

I was going to ask this on your behalf. I remember you mentioned that you wanted one.

I have a container leaving next week. I had hoped there would be greater interest. 4 of these isn't going to make any sense financially-the customs entry filing alone will run $125, regardless if its one for me or 50.
I had thought that $570 below market here would garner some interest. I personally hate scraping my windsheild on the 130-the truck is lifted and on 33's and I can't reach much more than 1/2 of it and I'm 6ft 6. I'm also planning on heated mirrors. Seems like even with the windsheild and side windows clear the mirrors are always slimed with snow and ice.

Wait until January and try again, I'll bet you'll get more interest when everyone remembers the misery of clearing their windshields.

I was really looking into this a while ago, then I installed my webasto. That thing clears my windscreen before I get out to the rover, and keeps its clear driving. I am going to do the heated mirrors though. Have those elements sitting in a bin waiting.

Haven't tested webasto heat in serious blizzard conditions yet with fast accumulation while driving. Hey I'm in NC, but so far so good.

point I'm making Doug is that if have been considering at some point going with a espar or webasto coolant heater, it seems to be a good alternative to a heated screen,. and you can put that money into it's cost instead. Mine is plumbed so that the heated output from the webasto goes straight into the heater matrix before anywhere else.

I have a heated glass on mine and I love it. I don't really need it for cold weather, but find it is excellent for just keeping the glass fog free on humid days etc. I can't imagine having only the pitiful heater/defroster to keep the glass clear.

5-6 years ago, I ordered mine direct from Uroglas. Drop shipped to my door in less than a week. Don't know if they're still exporting though or not.

Has anyone used the company below? If so, how long did it take to get your glass?

Hi Matt,
I am interested to know that too and think there might be another interested...

Hi Doug,
If you are feeling a little more magnanimous now that it is March , I think I could get interest for a few more heated (and tinted?) windscreens…

I bought the Series windscreens from Ricky Evans. with shipping £ 234.80. No problems, nice product. Has the micro fine wires sandwiched between the layers.

Hi Bill,
Thank you very much for comments.
This might not be too bad of a way to go, if Doug does not have another container coming...
