CBP doesn't have their own storage lots, storage is always contracted out. Where were these ?
All three pictured have alloys...some people just don't listen

You seemingly expect the US gov to behave in a financially responsible way ?

Spend 5 mins on govliquidation.com and get yourself properly disgusted.

They will spend more money trying to make them "legal" than they will sell for. The G Wagens brought in by Europa in the 80s are a perfect example. They spent $500,000 over 5 years federalizing G Wagens, which included "destructive and non-destructive vehicle testing." You think they want to do that? You honestly think that they would sell at a high enough price to profit?

"Off to the crusher" sounds overblown. How many are actually crushed vs. sent back or made compliant in other ways?

It would be nice to at least part them out so the owners get some of their investment back. But, there is no better way than good research and paying attention to this forum before you import something. I have gained so much info from people's experience here.

Depends on the owner/importer's record with Customs. If its your first personal import they generally grant permission to export. Getting to that point can take a year and is generally expensive.
What often happens is that the owner doesn't fight to retain ownership and the ability to export. You basically throw in the towel. This is known as a forfeiture and there are a lot of these. Those trucks get crushed.

Yeah with the exception of Kent's situation most people with trucks seized know the risks or do not do their homework and get something too good to be true.

Unfortunately, unless you find this board, you'd probably have no idea that an engine swap would get your truck seized. You'd also have no idea what the right engine/configuration should be for your vin.

Once anything is seized @ a port of entry, you don't own it anymore. You go through a process to regain ownership and the ability to export.

Hopefully those Defenders are heading to auction or to be parted out. Because I'll be there.

No hard feelings to those guys (member?) who tried to slip it past our Nation's Guardians!
