JTRS is on life support... Hopefully someone will actually pull the plug. Another acquisition fail.

Encrypted COTS tech provides the same capes vastly cheaper.

I've just bought an ex-Botswana military Defender 110.
Nice thing about it is that it has the factory raised and galvanized chassis.
I've tried to check up on the VIN number and came up empty on all routes, it only has 6 digits.
It has the original camo hidden under a poorly hand painted coat of PVA.

Now that I have a new computer that can handle media, I'm going through old photos. In my Botswana folder, I found this one from our exercise I took. Thought some might appreciate it.

More to come

Commanding General knows what's up with those boosts. Is that front wheel missing a lug nut though?!

If you stop in the Azores my guess is you would be on the island of Terceira (military base there). That is the one island I have never been (my family is from the Azores) but from what I heard it is actually a pretty fun island with more night life/etc than some of the others. There are 9 in total and they are gorgeous, lot of natural beauty, eco tourism, hiking and yes off roading!

I was in the largest island (St. Miguel) just a few years ago for a third time and we went with an off road tour outfit that had several LR 110's. We had a blast driving through the thick jungle like terrain up the dormant volcano on the far side of he island. Most of the islands are volcano's and semi tropic in nature even though they are in the middle of the Atlantic due to the gulf stream and the warm volcanic soil.

I hope you get there even if for a bit because it is a beautiful and unique place.
