Bear in mind it is illegal to tamper with/remove the VIN. Correctly done, the DMV agent needs to witness and do the transfer.
Ship the windscreen (sans glass) with VIN attached- while a pain and obviously not fair for you to pay, a cheap solution to recover the orig VIN at this juncture. Don't lose sight of the target...
But this is a NAS 90. Granted a 94 so could be like a 93.

My favorite part is they "lost" your Vin yet its been attached to a windshield this whole time. They must have some huge parts warehouse if no one noticed a red windshield frame with a vin plate in all this time.

Jeff, to be honest I don't know how the VIN plate is attached. I've never torn apart the dash, and wasn't there when they took apart the truck. All I saw is that the plate goes down into the dash so I didn't know if it was the bulkhead or the windscreen.
BUT...you've got a great point!!! IT has to be the bulkhead. So why in the hell is he saying he needs to ship me the windscreen? The bulkhead NEVER came off my truck. The dash and windscreen came off for the repaint...but not the bulkhead.

Yeah, this being a 90, it should be attached to the topmost plate of the bulkhead.
Maybe others can confirm if some 94's were like 110's??

When the windshield frame, glass, and gasket are in place you cant see the rivets and the attachment point...

Maybe he could send you a quick picture of what he has---surely he has a smartphone??

If so, then why did it get removed in the first place, AND why is it on the windscreen?

Me too, but I have not seen an early early 94 in person. About what number is yours?

Anyway, demand a pic.

#360, with a build date of September 1993. I'd definitely say its an early model. David insists its on the windscreen frame and that he should not be removing it from the frame or he could be in trouble. We have been emailing back and forth today to see what we can resolve. Stay tuned.

Just for reference this is what the truck looks like now!

I had '94 #1xx new in Dec '93 and it was on bulkhead, with tag in footwell. The NAS110s had VIN on windscreen, and tag on B pillar. Both have VIN on right frame horn...

------ Follow up post added August 22nd, 2016 04:02 PM ------

In on my phone, but someone enlarge the pic above before paint to see if the rivet holes are on the bulkhead...

Stealing items from you is perfectly fine though.... If it is your windscreen, it is your property and he needs to return it at his cost.

Maybe someone with a NAS90 can post a pic of the VIN location.

Plenty of people from the Atlanta area have someone go down and pick it up before it disappears and they can also confirm what it is and that it is the proper part with your proper VIN.

If it were in Colorado I would be willing to go do it for free. I would hope someone from the ATL area would do the same for you.

That looks to confirm that its on the windscreen. You can see from the picture I posted that the edge of the bulkhead didn't have those rivets.

I offered to send David a FedEx label to send the windscreen (with the glass removed) to me in Texas. I'm waiting to hear back. Hopefully this works for him, and we can put this long outstanding matter to rest.

I'm going to give David a chance at redemption, with a very short window to make this right.

Stay tuned, I'll update this thread with any updates. Ball's in David's court!

Let me know if I can help, I'm only 5 miles from his original shop. Not sure if he's already moved or not.

Thanks Kevin. I may take you up on your offer, but I'll give David the opportunity to make good. He's in the process of moving, hence coming across my VIN plate. Hey, better late than never. And to be fair, David didn't have to email me about it either.
