Happy D-90 Forum 10th Anniversary!!

Happy 10th Anniversary, d-90.com / defendersource.com !! It's quite an achievement to have a forum that was dedicated (primarily) to North American Spec Defenders (and now handles many different years of Defenders) thrive as this forum has. I think the superior level of knowledge, camaraderie, dedication, passion (sometimes frustration), etc. are all what make this forum so strong. And the laissez-faire (to stretch that term a bit) way in which the admins have governed this forum over the years is quite different from other forums; resulting in a community here that seems to have set high expectations for itself, with little-to-no intervention needed.

The first public post on this forum was back on September 29th, 2003 with this gem:

We should have a party and invite John Votta so we can finally see his NAS 110!

Not sure, but there was a forum here before this forum, and the Yahoo group goes back to the mid-late 90s.

And we were running on the vbs or whatever it was called for awhile before my time. 03 was the migration to the current forum software, and for a long time you could still search the archives. Not sure if that is still possible.

There sure was, but I was talking about this specific destination, not the Yahoo! group.

Sort of like how if you're dating a woman (or man) and have an anniversary with her/him for when you started dating, it changes to a new anniversary when/if you get married.

So this particular forum software. When was the old forum software used to and from?

Haha yup, I'm not perfect. I remembered back around Sept 15th that it was coming up on 10 years, but then completely forgot about it until this morning. Better late than never.

Yeah Chuque Henry resurfaced a couple of months ago- from the email list days. A lot of the early mods and pictures were from him.

Yousef, Mike H., Chuque, Merv I am sure there are others who moved on. On the other hand, I remember Jamie and others from the Yahoo days. The core group that has been around for a decade plus (2003 registration dates) is a lot bigger than people think.

It's funny this came up.

I was just re-reading an old tech article on wheel bearings and another one on wooden bumpstop extensions by Thomas "Farvin" Bryan.

Tom is still around wheeling his 90. Hard.
Although he was wheeling without a front driveshaft at MAR this year...

I've known a few people on this board for 10 years or more.
Met Chris von C back in '03. Just saw him this past July.
Alas he is Roverless but his wife has one...fr the moment.

Some people come and go and disappear from these boards for a time and then come back.

I've also met some new people this year that I has seen around for years but didn't *know*---like Bobeck.

Anywhoo...Happy 10th or whatever.

What about the original "twist off" contest. There were all pics from that too... Not sure what year that was maybe 2000

I was on the old yahoo group in 2003, and here as a lurker, until I created an account.
