I think it's a combination of the gapping between the body and diameter. Having a big gap between the body and the cage makes it look weird. Good concept, I bet he has a ton of time in that thing!

Figure about 2lb per foot of tube. I estimate 90ft of tube. So 180lbs on the LOW side. The waste is that roof basket in the same size tube.

This beauty is at the dealership. At first glance it looks like a decent D1 that has been painted grey. Then I noticed the glossy hood blackout. They clearly missed the point there. Next I noticed the wheels are just regular steel wheels with a removable fake beadlock ring. As I was walking away I saw the seats, which are redone with some snake skin, and lastly the green headliner.

I don't post in this thread much, but I'd like to enter this rover into the running, this is Dick Manitoba's poorly built rover.

Just to clarify, it was in for service and sold by another dealer. Probably not a Land Rover dealer.

Just to update this, there is an Expedition Portal sticker on the back, which for me, explains a lot.

Wow I didn't know that you could fit a v8 in there... No wonder he had to stretch it... <shakes head>

If only those Mondials were available in a smaller size. Article says they are 18s but they are 20s.
