The latest email I got about a potential scam "NAS" truck:

Emailer wrote:

" i am looking at buying a 93 defender 110 that the buyer claims is one of the 500 brought in legally, however the speedometer is kilometers not miles per hour. they are the third owner and said this is standard becuase it is an 'import'??"

Here is a picture of the "NAS" 110....

Nice looking, but hard to see it as an NAS 110 unless it was rebuilt or something.

It has been advertised in the Nantucket paper as an import. Now it is on ebay,of course.

Yeah, I just checked the ebay listing and this is the VIN:
125104619B
So just how much of that truck is a 1958-1959 109?

Probably not much would carbon-date back that far. However, she sure looks fetching in Arles Blue.

Agreed!
We have a blue 110 project pending. I'm hoping it goes through so we can do a restored blue one. I'd love to see it done.

Yeah, I saw that one on ebay too. After reading it closely I decided that he wasn't really saying it was an NAS vehicle, but he seemingly went out of his way to deceive the unknowing buyer. He says "Only 500 made for North America, this is an import."

I guess we are getting off topic here, sorry, but I never met an Arles Blue defender that I did not like!

It is just the right color for a defender,IMO. It could be that it just reminds me of Nantucket so much. The trim on my house there is pretty much the same color. It just works.

That sand one you did last was very awesome, but would love to see one in A. Blue next.

Ok, back to the fright pigs!

HAHA!! I almost bought that yellow one in 2000. I bought the LE instead. IIRC that was a really low mileage '97...that was what I was after at the time and the truck was good except for the wheels. At the time I think it was in LA...go figure.

That blue 110 is in the next town and I've seen it at the local deli but haven't run into the owner yet.

If anyone wants me to look at it for them I'll be happy to. It does look very nice in the Aries Blue in person and looks clean from a drive by. Although I haven't seen it up close. It does seem "scammy" from his listing.

I remember long ago when that green one was for sale. Even though it look like a pile, I still like it. Dont know why that one gets me.

That green 110 does have a certain rustic charm about it.

Sort of already in progress here at the shop...
We are building a Black NAS 110 right now with 4.6 Pursuit, but with an automatic and Tan leather and alloys.

next one after that is a Willow Green NAS 110 with a Td5 5 speed.

then an Arles Blue NAS 110 with 300 Tdi 5 speed...

Hopefully none of those will make it to this hall of shame!

First visual clue - no external/internal safety devices roll cage. No roll cage = no NAS or else it was a NAS and has a serious accident to demo the roll cage.

Man, that is one nasty Range Rover. Even the owner must have wanted it to go away, since he did not bother to make the payments.
The poor credit union that got stuck with it must be really buried in it. They are trying to open the auction at twice what it is worth. Yikes.
