I always thought my 109 was pretty ugly when I bought it 30 years ago...

Somebody had decided to "camoflauge" a limestone wagon by tiger striping it with brown, black and green spray cans. It was really ugly and and came complete with a "Mr Natural" Keep on Trucking" sticker in the rear door window.

I repainted it blue and yellow (paint shop missed on the color - it was supposed to be marine blue) and it's been called a circus wagon. Now that that paint job is peeling off I'll have to come up with another ugly paint scheme.

Here is a "shame" one...

This 110 came in, Euro illegal import with a Series Rover VIN, but they left the 17 digit Defender VIN on it too! Dah.

Even dumber is that the guy who bought it bought it as a NAS 110. He was pissed when we told him what it really was. The entire truck was crap.

Its got series back windows, so it must be a series truck. I'm alwasy blown away by the trash that is floating around, the jackasses that sell it, and the shockingly uninformed that buy it.

Yeah, but you would think when you are about to spend that kind of money on a truck that you would at least do enough research to know an obvious fraud when you saw it. I mean, the missing roll cage should have been an immediate tip off that something wasn't right.

Yeah, I'm talking about the fraudsters. There are some weasels out there selling some seriously questionable stuff. When you mentioned in another thread that a Defender is easy to misrepresent, you were actually quite right. I bet you don't see any 2004 JDM Land Crusiers on ebay fraudulently imported and listed as 1971 FJ40's.

They sure do, I was even looking to replace them when I had Janey. I didnt say that well at all - I was too outraged at the claim that it was NAS to think straight.

I think race vehicles typically don't suck. I can't get on the "all freelanders suck" bandwagon anyway. Plus, in some places in the world they get diesel motors, which definitely does not suck.

I think I read about that particular Freelander and its actually just the body put on a modified County frame. I could be wrong, and it was quite a while ago, but I know that at least one just like it was built on some other LR frame and they just used the body.

I agree, Freelanders in the US blow...in fact, they blow engines (all the time). From what I've heard, the Diesels are really good vehicles though.

My freelander will blow you all away with just its sheer awesomeness of sitting in the driveway.... and once I get it running again, you will defiantly bow to it.

hehe, i contacted this lady on Craigslist last year and she was willing to give me her 03 freelander for 900 dollars if I would pay for the towing to get it out of the mechanic shop because it blew up its motor. I didn't take it because I figured it must of been junk and not worth saving.

It runs doesn't it? It just doesn't have the power to roll out of the driveway on it's two front feet.
