GTV Anyone?

I really want an Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 - preferably 1974 - for no particular reason as a 1970 makes more sense as its the birth year . I posted one up on AlfaBB that I found while in Scottsdale at a shop this weekend. I might buy it if I can ascertain the quality of it. Anyone able to help me out and look at the link below and give me their educated opinion?
Thanks in advance, Drew

JimC has/had one. I've always wanted one and looked at a couple but never pulled the trigger. I actually prefer the 1750 more but they are basically the same car.

Good luck and buy one for me!

Well the S1 surely makes up for it. I also have a line on a 1951 S1 that I am trying to get ahold of. I have too many cars...or at least to many "wants". Thanks! I will reach out to Jim C to see if he can assist on the GTV.

I worked for alfa romeo Australia for the longest time.. The gtv's were always my favourite cars... Handled like no other car... We used to get the autodeltas (turbo) and they were an absolute blast...I still think the GTV6 has the best stock exhaust note EVER.. We used to build the GIOCATALOs...also..once back home I will be opening an alfa repair shop as well as land rover and saabs..what can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment..

Sounds like you might be able to give an "educated opinion" Shayne...any comments on the quality of the GTV pictured?

Relative moved to Oz from UK leaving her GTV behind.
Her new Aussie hubby flew half way across the continent and drove a GTV back in secret and surprised her with it on her birthday.

Takes real balls to drive across Australia.

I can only tell you what anyone else could from those pics... Holy shoot, that car is clean, I think you would be hard pressed to find a cleaner car than that, they usually suffer really bad from rust... If the price is right I would say buy it... I'm not a fan of the injection myself, I always preferred the weber or dellorto side drafts, better induction noise... But we rarely ever got any with the injection when I was with them..this was back in the late 80's..

I've still got mine, but it's sitting in a heated garage in Washington state and hasn't been driven since 2009.

There is a lot right with that silver car, and I sure they want top dollar, which seems to be getting ever higher.

I'm not anti-SPICA like some people (it's actually an awesome mechanical computer) but I do prefer the dash, interior, and exterior detail differences of the series 1 cars.

Mine is a 1969 euro-spec car delivered new to Canada.

You might get hold of Keith Martin (he's on here but not sure what is handle is. He's on facebook). Keith is an avid AR fan & can likely give you some input.

That is beautiful! You are a lucky man. The silver car is top dollar.

Yeah I think he has a RHD 90 I believe as well. He is a AR fanatic. I have received a lot of feedback on the car and generally it all sounds positive. It has been nit picked by some of the best I believe. So now I just have to convince myself to spend the amount of money that will buy a defender, on an Alfa Romeo.

Look on www.bringatrailer.com
There may have been one on there last week or so.
You may have to scroll through some back pages (reverse chronologically sorted) but those guys are always featuring private listings of GTVs

It's so easy to go wrong when buying an old Alfa. I just bit the bullet and paid (at the time) top money for a one-owner, low mile original car. They're still not particularly cheap to restore, so a 35k one is still pretty close to the idea about buying a restored car where you "buy the restoration and get the car for free."
