Don't worry Gustavo you can still sign even if you are an illegal import.

I signed and shared it on FB. I also wrote this blurb to accompany my FB post. If you want to spread the word about this petition, feel free to copy and paste or edit etc if you agree:

-------------
Dear_______

Please review this petition to encourage our gov't to loosen restrictions on importing grey-market vehicles into the USA. These regulations were created to protect our Nation's floundering automotive industry, and only help to perpetuate the junky quality of output from Detroit. The regulations were sold by lobbyists claiming that they were for the protection of people and our environment- NOT TRUE-most European cars are safer, greener, and cleaner than their American counterparts.

All the while, it is impossible to import an interesting vehicle from overseas unless it is 25 years old and EVEN THEN it is possible for a customs agent with no knowledge of your vehicle to deny your entry, potentially costing you thousands of dollars in fines, storage or cleaning fees, attorney fees, and possibly shipping back to the country from which it came. They can also sieze the vehicle and you could be out the full value of the vehicle and then some.

Lastly, the pursuit and enforcement of these pointless, draconian regulations wastes valuable taxpayer dollars in a time when many people are struggling to make ends meet. These Homeland Security funds were allocated to protect our borders from real threats, not from people driving around in cool cars. Please look at this petition- if you care about how your tax dollars are spent, if you don't believe in protectionist legislation for bloated, top heavy, failing industries that can't succeed without billions of federal bailout dollars, if you want to see more fuel efficient vehicles in the USA, then I believe you will want to sign it.

Thanks,

Has this hit the Nissan Skyline boards yet? You'd think that'd bring a lot of responses.
