Greetings from Moshi!

hujambo!
Starting week three of 12 and have managed to score a 110 n/a diesel for free on day 1. I've seen a Series 1, a RRC 6 wheel petrol tow truck, various other Series and 110's in almost any configuration, as well as a Sport, TD5 D2's more variations of Toyota Land Cruisers models than I didn't know existed.
Internet is spotty so I'll probably have to wait until we get back in April to post pixs

Kwaheri

Here's my 110 on our commute to work. Most days, we can see Kili looming over us! Price was right, but I'm going to hold out for some sort of TDi. I had always thought "n/a" meant normally aspirated, but I think it also means "no ass".

The more I see pictures like this, the more it reaffirms how much I prefer the older Land Rovers. Such character.

Ron, pics can be deceiving. That one has been painte with a brush and a roller (likely at the same time) with about 11lbs of bondo in the LF wing! But, it starts everytime, does all of the things it's supposed to.
The Land Cruiser we're also driving, a VX with a n/a 6 cyl diesel drives better/differently but lacks character. I'm getting the director's TDi 110 next week for some servicing.
Here's a pic of our house and Max playing catch with Massai warriors using elephant poop.

So it is OK to play with poop! I'm just on the wrong continent.

My FJ40 rides completely different from my Series III too. I think it has to do with the way the shackles are placed. On the 40 they are in front, which causes the shackles to "fight" against the terrain, where as the Rover they are behind where they naturally fold over bumps. A lot of the Toyota guys end up doing shackle reversals to get a better ride. And I always thought the Brits were backwards. They got it right this time.

didn't think i'd miss home but these pics kinda make the heart ache a little. Think I'll pull out the Wilbur Smith novels - transport myself back thru the pages of his books Trevor, What is the purpose of your trip over there?

Gery- I've got a client list of Land Cruisers; the Rovers seem to keep going without requiring asmuch fetteling. Or nobody's using them!
Lee-my wife's a Pediatric Dermatologist volunteering at the Kilimanjaro Christian Med Center, Regional Dermatology Training Center and I'm volunteering in the hospital 's workshops- Toyotas, Rovers, Massey Feurguson tractors, MAN turbo diesel generators, incinerators- pretty much anything they need help with.

I think he gave that up and is training to be a heavy equipment, than crane operator, when he and his dad aren't turning that mountain top into a Rover playground.

Hi Trevor,
You missed a whopper snowstorm....three feet in our neck of the woods. Rangie and 110 kicked tail in the snow. Been up Kili, yet? Looking forward to pix and stories over a pint (or five). Best to the family. Be safe. Collect a cool 110 tdi for me, too while you're there. I need more vehicles in the corral (yeah, right).
Cheers,
a
