GPS Mount - Garmin 276C

anyone find a unique way to mount a RAM mount for a GPS in their d90?

i was thinking of fabricating a mounting base where the ashtray currently is and then mount the screwdown RAM mount. also thought about the "locking suction" option but for some reason i just don't trust the suction on the dash. i suppose it could be mounted on the window tho...hmmmm.

sweeeeeet!

dan did you happen to use a RAM mount like this one: http://www.gpscity.com/item-ram-moun...rapb138ga7.htm

i'm thinking that i would drill 4 holes in it to mount that particular base.

also, the two chrome securing screws look like they go wider than the ashtray... is this the case or do they actually secure inside the tray: http://www.americandirtroads.com/catmultimount.html just want to make sure i don't have to drill those two holes into the dash...

John, use this mount: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1081

its made for the Garmin unit you have. plus its just one hole that goes into the ash try mount. the one hole is better because you can swivel the unit side to side about 15 degrees. thats what i have and its perfect.

What about the simple route - use the auto mount https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1042
with the double sided tape right to the dash. That's what I did and it works great. Went wheeeling this past weekend and it did not move. Best part - no holes in the dash.
And it removes easy - just unlock and slide out - I also have the bean bag holder for the wife's car.

The 276c seems to be a good unit - thanks to those who recommended it.

I made an overhead "console" and mounted my GPS, CB, map light to it. I think I get a little less glare from sunlight with it up there.
