Actually, You did not in fact suffer from Rover hate. GOB could care less what vehicle you were driving, she was hating environmentally the visible/odorous emissions from the motor.

I was up in the Half Moon Bay 2 years ago with my 1960 2.25D 88 and later that month I received a notification from the Bay Area Pollution District stating that someone had turned it in as polluting and they would pay me $500 to fix the pollution or $1000 towards the purchase of a new vehicle. Luckily it was a non-enforcement notice which I could ignore, unless I got another one......

I side with Jeff, Just say thanks I'll take care of it. Then let the air out of her tires.....

Oh yeah. That's nasty. Not that diesel smoke isn't nasty too, because it is, like the nice old Lexus lady said, but I swear every time I get inundated with horrible exhaust fumes, I'm like there's gotta be an old Ford pickup up ahead, yep, there it is. Always. So my only choice is to pull over and let the air clear, or stomp on it and zoom past.

I think it was from JL/OilBurner where I heard the term bug zapper used for the 2.5NA and I thought it was a perfect phrase for it.

This thread is LOL...

My wife and i just returned a few minutes ago from the Whole Foods Parking Lot, yes in Cambridge, Ma, where our 1970 petrol Series 2A, fogged and oil misted from the tailpipe on start up, a brand new Tesla.....in front of its pencil pants wearing yuppy owner. We just smiled, waved, and push in the choke a bit to economize fuel use....

I'm running a bit rich on my fuel screw now. When i take off uphill from a stop, i look back for the black cloud. Every time I see it in my mirror withsomeone behind me, I say to myself "suck it bitch!". It's a mantra really. I know it's socially wrong, but it's a guilty pleasure. And all this knowing that while stopped, the driver behind me just read my "don't follow me. You won't make it" bumper sticker. It's insulting really. Like food chain unfair kind of mean.

I do love beagles. Used to have 3 and took them for walks all the time. Unfortunately, one of them couldn't keep up after a couple miles.

That's cool, but go big or go home. When other drivers can't see you through your smoke, they need to hear where you are.
