Google Earth!

OK this program is pretty crazy! Just type in a place anyware on the planet and it takes you there! I suggest going to NYC, then turn on buildings (little check box) and the tilt down. WARNING! You will be playing with theis all day!

LOL, I love it! We played around with it at work for hours! Check out their forum, they have tons of cool stuff to look at and you can leave comments on the map!

I've been playing with it for a long time now. I even used it to make up a map of my favorite bit of road to unwind the Jag and Mustang on. Download this and then hit play. http://nnin.net/CowCreekRing.kmz I call it the Cow Creek Ring and it's great for driving at near felony speeds pretending you're Colin McRae.

You can even see my Defender sitting in the parking lot at the real estate office where I used to work. Working there was a big motivation for buying the 90 to begin with. That's prime Hill Country land and I used the 90 to explore ranches for future subdivisions.

Only other car it could have been would be my father's and that was a gold Expedition. It would have left a bigger shadow and he always parked straight in on the other side of the lot. There seems to be a color difference between what would be the black surrey top and dark green hood. Besides, I want to think it's mine.

Also, if you scroll NorthEast about a mile from where I've marked my truck you can see where one of the ranchers was burning some brush that week.

Every few years or so. There are things around my area that are very different since the last satellite pass. Also depends on the area. Look around Harvard and the resolution is high enough to see people playing with their dog in the park. Literally.

Yeah i looked at my dads office in Charlotte, NC and could see his vehicle. I didn't think it was updated very often because the Outer Belt Interstate (I-485) around charlotte is not completed at the exit we use and now its been completed for probably close to a year. That is an amazing program.

Thanks for the info Tony

Isn't there some site online offering higher level resolution, somewhat closer to what the government has access?

U can use GIS software to view higher resolution maps, but because the files are so large you won;'t find it on the internet. Even with the software and a fast computer it can take a while for the high res maps to open.

On another note, Microsoft has one of these programs and erased Apple from the map. They replaced their tech campus with a warehouse and parking lot. Thought
it was kind of funny even though I'm a mac guy.

I know for a fact that the images are older than 3 years--my neighborhood is at least 5 years old. Houses have changed, roofs are different colors, and I was skinnier.
