Scott,
I take my safari helmet off to you my friend...awesome letter and complete in its framing of the situation and the need here in the States...my email to them was far briefer with more begging, but I believe, equally passionate...thanks again for taking the time to write them...

Very passionate.
One can't help but wonder, though, just how powerful a "lobbying force" the enthusiast base really is. As a population, are we a profitable target market for a global auto manufacturer to focus on?

(Just how many diesel Defender coversions are there in the US? A few hundred, maybe?)

No harm in dreaming.....

Well, my thought was to represent ourselves as a force and perhaps we will be considered as one.

Thanks for the kudos.

Great writing

May be we should make a common D90 members letter....

Apparently they are moving in a different direction then a new rugged Defender:

Well the LRX was already in the pipeline, the expansion of the CKD program is good news for the Defender. I would not pass judgement on Tata for at least a year.

Two key points. Very rarely does a new owner cancel projects that are well into development cycles. Their stewardship takes notice much later as regards what hits the showroom floor.

The mention of the "big contract" for the Indian Army gives greater push to CKD then later possibly another assembly plant.
