George at RDS has been sick this week..

Keep George (RDS) in your prayers, I have been talking with him this week and he has been sick since last week. He has been diagnosed with Pneumonia. Sounds like he is doing better today.

I realize alot of folks know George and thought folks should be aware....

Talked to him last week and he told me (in normal George fasion as we were hanging up) to "kiss his lilly white a$$". Gotta love doing business with a vendor with some personality. I think my average call with George is at least a half hour. He follows this forum pretty closely as a lurker. I think George is the only parts vendor I know of that has told me he has what I need but "you don't want it, cause you can buy it cheaper from ........".

Best wishes for a speedy recovery George !

RDS is about an hour away. I've ordered various odds and ends over the past 5 or 6 years. A year after the storm, I went down to pick up some parts. Having only conversed with him before over the phone, George reminded me of any number of behind the counter parts guys in New Orleans (the accent and the sense of humor). He set himself apart, though, with his unfailing straight forward, honest advice and service. If he thought something would either not work, or, more importantly, would not work as I would want (but technically fit), he would advise against.

While I was expecting to see some typical overweight local chewing on a po-boy, George reminded me more of some ex 80s rocker type on Bands Reunited. For the next hour and half he showed me around the place, chatted about the recovery and what happened around his locale, and all things Rover. Great guy and his store is a great resource.

I've tried to call him a couple times in the last week or so, this explains a lot. Usually I get abuse heaped upon me for leaving answering machine messages, but so far nothing. He's obviously not feeling like himself...

Yeah he is a funny guy, I called him once and he saw from his caller ID I was from 626 so he answers like he's from some Pasadena Pizza joint or something, I was like....WTF? Then I was like oh ok haha, cool beans. I bought a MAF from him, cheaper than British Pacific!

Hope you feel better soon George - now that the wife's car is paid off I can start spending more money on Rover parts!

I think I'll be talking to you a lot soon.....my Series IIA seems to be missing a few things.

Not a chance - I first bought that truck in 1973 and sold it in 1978 - regretted it immediately and eventually tracked it down and bought it back 15 years later. I finally got around to starting the restoration last fall. It helps that it has a PERFECT original frame and firewall. I'll pass this down to my nephew some day.
