G-Wagon expert?

To avoid trapsing all over the internet, does anyone know of a good source for MB G-wagon information? I'm interested in learning more about the G line and just don't have a clue. I'm interested in a early 80's 280GE but don't know enough about what engine models and displacements go seek out or avoid.

Thanks y'all!
