WOW- almost 2' of clearance, and NO ugly SS spare cover on the rear!!
Think refined H-1 with gobs of power.
Likely best combo ever produced for enthusiast, sans msrp.

If only Land Rover valued that end of the market. Price it between the $50k Rubicon Unlimited and this $100-120k option.

Looks pretty incredible.

If only this was 100-120k, that would be a lot of truck for the money. Supposed to start at Over $250k.

I have a G wagon and it's already tall enough where I can't get into most parking garages. No idea how you could get around town in this new one.

Looks bad ass though.

well you can build a portal defender for alot less than that.

I see only 2 customers for this Gwagen model. Saudi princes and NBA atheletes.

I think they'll get decent play here in the UAE, after all there are already the 6x6's here...and these guys make plenty of $$$$ (and have better roads than the KSA, though that might be why Saudi's will want them.)

yep, and when I say Saudi princes, I am referring to all the OPEC oil nation monarchy. f

And the monarchists don't actually "make" anything. they just wait for their oil checks to roll in and buy another car every week.

Ironically the UAE's income is rather diversified-they looked forward a long time ago and it only occupies ~30-37% of the GDP right now (and they are actively seeking to shrink that and innovating a great deal).

The Saudis, on the other hand, just now started to message they want to get off the oil nipple.

Not all GCC governments are quite equal all things considered.
But I'm biased, I rather like it here. Will almost be a shame to leave. Almost.

Is this for people who want to say they're able to tackle any water crossing at 120mph but in reality will never even bring it out in the rain?

MB will likely do a stripped HD military version that likely drove this offering. They have several military contracts these days...

Does strike me as odd that MB will be selling a G w/ portals in the US, and yet JLR could not make even a normal axle Defender for NAS mkt this century. I know, dead horse...

I like the portals..
Engine (bi- turbo V8) seems like overkill for the purpose of extreme off-road environments.
(Is there another other reason for Portals besides Off Road ground clearance that I am unaware of?
Okay, will be good in those 30" snowfalls)

Hmm, Lots of Horsepower, combined with lots of ground clearance, makes me think lots of those NBA players someone predicted as owners may be rolling them over?

P.S. - Those Fender flares look hideous IMHO.. Much rather build an 'Ultimate Defender' on Portals for that kind of money..

I can't figure out why Land Rover doesn't want to have a RANGE of vehicles. All of their vehicles are luxury. I get nice. I don't want a new Rover to be a 1980's Defender trim level. But I don't understand the need to make all their vehicles into some version of the current Range Rover or Ford Explorer.

Gerry McGoverns to blame for that, started during Ford ownership...
