You build a defender to like new with those specs and I bet you are easily in the high 100's if not 200k. Doing portals right and putting that kind of hp in a truck isn't cheap.. If my built 110 were a dc not a sw, I'd consider one and use it off-road.. I think it's great Benz is pushing the limits of what makes sense.. The 6x6 has carbon fender flares and if this is the same, that's the only part that scares me.. That's got to be a 6k hit every time you break one.

Over or under $200k? I have to admit, this in G65 trim has to be a 300k car, but in g500 trim maybe it is only $150k.

My dealer said ~$250k. This uses the twin turbo V8 from the G550, I believe.

Someone recently showed me the "G Class Professional" (below)...I dig this more than the squared, and supposedly 1/3 of the price!

That is out of my budget or rather out of what I would spend on a car.

Is the "Professional" sold in the US? Calling it the Professional makes it sound overly distinguished...but I still dig it.

Any guesses as to the depreciation it will have at the 10 year point? I'd look at a used one or at least snag the axles from a breaker/dismantler.

Unfortunately not. I knew I'd seen this old post - I was looking for g-wagon rocksliders and just came across a portal axel kit. No clue if it's worth a shit -

Here is the link

I missed this thread....

I'm too hankering for a professional. the classic (300Cdi 461, not the new 463 350CDI they've just brought out) is a stripped out fairly basic model. comes as standard with big mirrors, snorkel, 4 seats, drain bung in the floor, steel bumpers. Think of it as a military spec with shiny paint (they even have the military convoy light switch)

The new 463 350Cdi professional is kind of a nod to the classic one (which is still made by the way, for militaries. Australia being the latest country to buy umpteen thousand to replace all their LR Perenties) but has more plush "basic" interior, and although the bumpers are steel, the front one is a monstrosity to fit in the engine and tranny oil coolers.

Still not a bad tool though.
