Thankfully it's only a concept.

Anyone good at Photoshop? I would be interesting in seeing if it helps. The hood is definitely too far back and the grill should not leaning back.

Comparing it to the Defender is just silly, you cannot compare the current / old Defender to a new vehicle designed to be manufactured to meet all of the governmental regulations that are out there as well as appeal to enough people to justify selling it, sucks but that is just reality.

Putting the Defender name aside and looking at it as just another land rover in the lineup it does appear to have some characteristics that would lean more to off-road use than the current offerings (available here in the US).

Decent approach angle

Decent departure angle

Appears to have decent clearance under it for a stock vehicle

DC100 is the concept name, if the 100 is the wheelbase that is a nice wheel base off-road, not too long not too short a nice middle ground

2 doors

I would assume it would have IFS, while I would prefer solid axles IFS has come a long way over the years and while not as rugged can do a decent job off-road (LR3 / Toyota IFS comes to mind). Progress happens much like going from leafs to coils.

If they put the capability of the LR3 (traction control, lockers, and adjustable ride height) it would do well off-road. Anyone that has driven a LR3 off-road can tell you that they will surprise the hell out of you with what they can do. Granted with electronics you can have failures but that is just the reality of the times we live in.

The roof has me intrigued. Looks like two seams, wonder if they are thinking about having removable sections? Would prefer if the front grill / bumper were a little less sloped but I am sure that helps with mileage. Hard to tell from just a sketch so we will have to wait and see what it ends up looking like in real life.

No it does not compare to the modular rugged tool for any job that we all love but that is life… nothing will ever be able to replace the Iconic defender but I already own one and can build more if I want

I can't think of any car design in history that has missed the mark as bad as this. Who the hell is on the approval board for this?

I would be shocked if this even comes close to reality.

Note on the 20" rims. There is a lot of room between those calipers and the rim itself. We can only hope. We also know nothing about the drive train. Diesel...PLEASE!

I understand the need to meet regulations, but I've no doubt it will have gobs of "convenience" electronics that are the antithesis of a good off-road/work/expedition type vehicle which the Defender has been.

Well, I picked the wrong week to stop drinking so much.

At least I know my 90 isn't going anywhere anytime soon!

I was a bit worried when I was reading some articles and they mentioned sharing chassis stuff to cut costs. Ugh. I was hoping for something else....

Hope it's not like the bronco concept that just died.

That's hilarious. Judging by the numbers of FJ Cruisers around here, it'll sell like hotcakes.

Damned glad that there's a real one in my garage already.

So in 2015, your average 16 year old girl will want a Kia Sportage, a Honda CRV, or a Land Rover Defender. Sad.

To me it looks like Land Rover jumping on the 'retro' vehicle bandwagon ... first VW with the Beetle, then BMW with the mini and most recently Fiat with the 500 ... all very successful at being a decent compact car with the style cues from the original. In the case of the new defender it misses the point completely ... a Defender is a utility vehicle first that some people like the aesthetics ... It might as well be made by Lexus ...

Honestly, this couldn't have been the ACTUAL concept? from Land Rover World.

There is hope, judging from all the bad comments hurled toward the concept maybe we might see a new model that is more closely related to the Defender, I know this is very doubtful, but if you read the comments there are a lot of bad ones and Land Rover would be stupid to ignore them...
