Funny things you've heard while owning a Defender

So I call up O'Reilly's today to inquire about a fan clutch. I don't even bother letting them ask anymore I simply say 199??? whatever Land Rover Defender so the high school drop out can punch it into the computer. Notice I didn't write "type it in" because that would lead one to believe he had actually learned something in school. So while I'm waiting for the next question which is usually "what year was that?" at which point I have to repeat myself... I get one I haven't herd before...

Parts Boy: "Who makes Land Rover?"
Me: Who makes Land Rover?
Parts Boy: Uh Yeah?
Me:
Parts Boy: "I don't see it on here"
Me:
Parts Boy: "Oh there it is"
Me:

Um I think it's Vauxhall but I could be mistaken...

And the #1 Funniest thing we've all heard while owning a Defender... "Nice Jeep!"

Anyone else?

I was at Auto Zone looking for a part once and the gal there said. "I can't remember who makes Land Rover? Honda or Ford?"

I had a guy pull up next to me in a Wrangler who said "That's what my Jeep wants to be when it grows up."

110 is parked in front of the liquor store and as I'm checking out, she asks if it's mine and if I'm going on safari. I laughed and said, "Yeah, a booze safari".

My son and I stopped on the highway to help a lady with a flat
on her horse trailer. She didn't have a lug wrench that would fit the nuts
on the trailer wheels. I got my 4 way out and they were all too big too.
She was on the phone to her husband about the wrench and said "This guy in a Land Rover
stopped to help but he's got really big nuts". My son and I were barely able
to maintain until we got back in the Rover.

I called a local Land Rover "Specialist" - Roverland - here in Northen VA asking if they do ring and pinion changes. The answer I got was "what's your engine doing?" I said no, "I need to change the axle gear ratio." The guy then said "you mean change the axle fluid?" NO! I sad, "I want to change the differential gears!" The guy then told me to calm down said, "Okay, you want to fix your transmission?" I told the guy he is on the wrong business he doesn't know what a R&P, differential, or gear ratios are.

"Take me with you"... said the cute gal at the ice cream booth during a muddy adventure. Just my luck I thought until I realized at the time LR's most recent marketing efforts.

"What are you do'n??? out shooting zebras??" came the gas station clerk at some by long forgotten way stop on I70... "No just out wheeling I replied" but I did think to myself out of all the big game animals in africa one might shoot, lions, cape buffalo, etc etc... no no we're here to shoot the stripped ponies.

My hands down best conversation ever was with a little old woman in her early 70's. She grew up as a missionary in Africa and her dad had Land Rovers as the family car. She had learned to drive on one and was very happy to see one pull in and see a young lad driving it.... We had a great conversation over lunch at the diner counter and then both went our seperate ways. It was cool to hear how fixing Rovers in the wild really hasn't changed in the last 60 years.
