Front Roll Bar Removal

Wondering if anyone has an opinion on this...

Has anyone ever removed their windscreen roll bar on their SW simply to achieve a cleaner or "stock uk" look? I suppose there would be some prep and paint work to cover the bolt holes. Or, perhaps fabricated caps or body color painted bolts would be a less permanent approach.

Just a thought and curious as to what the nas d-90 community might think of this approach.

The holes in the roof are not that big but if I remember correct the ones in the front fender are rather large and would require a patch, plate or new fender to look decent.

great input!

keith - can't tell from the pic but are those plates on the fender flush w/ the body?

i haven't taken mine off yet so i think i should do it just to see what the heck it looks like underneath the mounts top and bottom.

it sounds like, based on the comments here, that the fender location has a "rectangular indentation" where a plate can fit into it and the top one is just holes. does this sound correct?

the plates are slightly above the "body". they look to be "caps". i dont want to pop one off.... just because i didnt put it on and not sure if it comes off or will go back on. (does that make sense?) i will poke around it some more tomorrow when its not raining and dark out.

Keith- Just replace the outer wings. I did one with a 200 Tdi and a 300 Tdi outer so the vents were on both sides- or just use blanks. You can remove the cage support at the same time for a nice clean look. And remember, from a safety standpoint, the military doesn't use the exocage either.
