It's very encouraging that the article states project icon is still targeting the military market and is designed to be adaptable (ie easily modified and modular). That could end the speculation of a fluffed up soccer mom vehicle fate for the D!

The rumors regarding the replacement Defender remind me of all the "New mid-engined Corvette!" articles from Motor Trend in the 70s and 80s. Hopefully the Frankfurt prototype will be a reasonable facsimile of the planned production version, and not just a fantasy show piece.

As an optimistic point of reference, The Evoque does not appear to be far off from the concept vehicle originally shown. And if it is going to meet military market requirements, it will have to lean more pragmatic and utilitarian in the concept, and less so on style and flare.
