Eric, is Richards paying for all the duties and related charges with importation? Seems like Adrian paid about 1000 once it was off of the boat.

Trust me it's not cheap to import a. Single anything

The state side port fees really screw you
Did you pick it up or deliver to your door?

I picked it up from a warehouse right by the port. You can't pick it up directly from the port. I couldn't imagine cost if I had delivered to my house

I used a Richards, purchased from Defenders NW. The frame is great. I don't buy the argument that Marsland is thicker. I haven't taken out calipers but the frame appears to be identical to the stock frame. I'm very happy with the construction and overall quality.

I'm not sure why anybody would bother shipping their own. I would use a parts importer who has their own containers arriving. Brian/Defenders NW brings them in regularly and you could pick up from his place with a flatbed trailer.

Only reason I shipped mine was it was a designa hybrid which no one stocks. Otherwise no way would I import a frame. The hassle alone makes it not worth it. Even if I saved $1k

I always use Marshland chassis, they are better quality than Richards, they are made of thicker steel.
.
Marsland uses 2mm steel for the main stamped rail sections.
Richards uses 2.5mm steel.

Hmmm.. Richards seems like getting better rep with thicker material.

I may end up picking it up from Brian if he could get me one.

Chris, did you do anything with the state to "legitimize" the swap as it seems like some people suggest this could be problematic in WA?

Rovers North (Marsland) wanted $1500 for shipping. AB (Richards) is about only 1/4 of that to ship the chassis.

It seems like I will be getting Richards.

I'm not going to comment on the Richards vs Marsland debate but here's my $0.02 shipping. I've purchased chassis from both RN and AB. I will tell you while RN was more expensive to ship it was shipped properly. It bolted to a massive 2x4 frame and was very secure. The delivery guy gladly placed it at the bottom of my driveway, overall a very good experience. AB shipped the chassis loose. The delivery guy bitched about unloading it and would only leave it curbside. Because it was shipped loose one of the rear tabs was bent. I called AB to let them know my experience and was basically told i was SOL. No offer to repair the tab or to reprimand the delivery company. For a 75% savings on shipping it may be worth it but assume the delivery's are equal.

Paul, how did they unload it from the truck? I cannot see how this can be liftgated.

Speaking to Erik, seems like they sell these as well.

When I got my chassis (SafariHP) it was strapped to a well made 2x4 frame we slid it off the lorry (18 wheeler to you yanks) onto my trailer with no issues no damage. Marsland.

The loose chassis (110) was liftgated. I removed it with a couple of HF dollies, but i was the last delivery so the truck was empty and I was able to lay it flat in the truck.

Yes - we order Richards chassis in a stock configuration to the model year for inventory, though most any configuration can be built.
