Foremost 101 athority on this board

So of the non-salesman (no offense intended) members on this board, as a matter of opinion, who has the most knowledge about the 101? PM or post please...trying to build my knowledge as I'd like to purchase one of these and for the past two weeks I've been doing homework...of sorts. Thanks in advance.

I'm would get on 101club.org website. I currently own 3 of them but I am or of those dreaded land rover sales men. So take it for what you want. I can answer any questions you may have if you want to talk.

You should also read this 101 guide.

101club.org, the Rovers North BBS, or basically anyone whose name shows up at the bottom of the LRFAQ pages like Dixon

They are amazing. Best bet is to take one for a test drive. It's the only way to really understand how nice they drive and see some of there design problems in person. They are so different from a normal series/defender not in a bad way but just different.

I know you've seen many and are familiar with the good/Bad and the Ugly of them. I may ring you up this week. The perspective I am looking for is someone that has done a few rebuilds on these. As with D90's, over seas these are 1/3 the price for whats on the stateside market, unless of course they've been rebuilt.

Heck my DD D90 came to me almost perfect and I think in the last 2.5 years I've got 8k into her. That's money you'll never see again but I really enjoy that vehicle.

Go to LRFAQ like I said and go to the bottom of any page. There are 2-3 names on there usually (including Dixon) - hit his name, and an e-mail page pops up.

Ben Smith should be there as well. He owns one or two and a half I think. You can post on the njlr.org/forum. I know he has a 101 chassis. He drove one crosss country in his youth. Howard of Guy Fawkes event owns and drives his. He was kind of enough to let me drive his while he was visiting Ben a couple of summers ago. His was RHD and was awesome.

Rumor is there are a couple in Brooklyn from a defunct club that turned in a business(?) and imported some to sell and they werent selling so there in some warehouse or garage somewhere collecting dust.

Join the 101 club they will have ton of info and real world advice for owning a 101. Dunsfold, LR Series , PE Blanchards, and http://www.nkrecovery.co.uk/ have parts for 101's. Parts come up every so often on UK eBay and a blue moon shows up on the LRX board.

"He owns one or two and a half." haha, nice. Yeah, Ben is one of the dudes whose name is usually on the bottom of the page, but I think he lists his fourfold address whereas Dixon has his gmail on there. Either way, you should be able to get through to one or two and a half of them.

He is not the only one. If I had one it would be my daily driver and RHD.

Simon in Canada. All those guys know each other well. The Guy Fawkes event back in the day was for 101 owners only. Ben, Howard, Simon and others would all get together at Howard's farm. Simon's is a monster.

Sent you a PM with contact info for four 101 owners (including Ben and Simon) that should be able to answer any questions you may have.
