1500 dollar earphones, 50k rings, 1000 dollar truck badges... Whatever you think adds inches. Get a grip.

So what's the best $150ish earbud model? The online reviews I'm finding are all over the place.

Ultimate Ears are worth trying Dave. Probably around 80-100 bucks. They are in-ear "ear buds" come with a bunch of different silicone tips depending on your ear canal size. Very very comfortable and GREAT sound.

A group buy? Seriously? I don't think that would work...first off they are real expensive to start, and a group may be able to get $300 off. But even Bono and Mick Jagger pay cost for them! I am going to a gig in Frankfurt in April called MuusikMesse and they will sell about 1,000 of their headsets at an ASP of $1,000. Pretty wild.

If any CA dudes wanna rock on by to the CanJam event in Sthn CA this weekend though, I will get you a free pair of in ear buds, that are AWESOME...so look up the event and come by our booth. It is at the Westin in Newport Beach right near John Wayne airport. You will get a free headset. Miles above a Beats. You have to mention my name and D90

Exactly. Normal people don't spend that kind of money on nonsense. Reminds me of the guy on LRF that wants to spend $200,000 on a Kevlar painted 110 so he can go to the mall.

Yup. On my third pair of bose headphones for a reason.

All you have to do is listen to maria callas on a beats set of headphones, she'll expose all of the flaws in her first five seconds of singing.

I can't make it to CanJam but can I mention your name and D90 here and get them? "Craig/Jonesy and D90"

Sorry you have to get your ears scanned by my crew. We are at CanJam this weekend, the MusikMesse in Frankfurt in two weeks.

Of course if you are in Atlanta just PM me and I will hook you up

This x100. Even their sub-$100 headphones are worlds above beats and bose in sound quality, though they aren't the most comfortable for long listeners. Awesome little company that makes almost everything in house in a tiny building in Brooklyn, sadly the founder just passed away.

This type of technology was approved by the FDA initially for those with hearing loss and in need of a better hearing aid. With audiologists already fussing and warning people about prolonged use of standard ear buds and recommending you only use over the ear head sets, with both caution and moderation..I wonder if these are really such a great idea for those who are not hearing impaired. Especially for younger people who already wear ear buds all the time. Hearing loss is irreversible and studies have proven that damage is caused by prolonged usage. I guess these 3D scanned inner ear headsets are hitting the market for people to use for recreational purposes and time will tell. I love my music and couldn't imagine being without it. I like the 'idea' of this product but I wouldn't buy them because I wouldn't want to risk damage to my hearing. The technology is cool though.

I've been out with an aircraft owning friend with Bose noise cancelling headsets. Lets just say they work. The price of $1k each is pretty darned scary.

I like my $200 shure earbuds. Can wear them at the track or shooting all day. I'd love a pair of the UE but I'd rather spend that kind of money on the truck.

They are worth every dime. I'm guessing I have half my hearing left from years of flying helos and turboprops and wouldn't trade my Bose A20 headset for anything.
