Florida (Atlantic Coast) Realtor

We are going down to FL, north of Ft Lauderdale and as far north as Vero Beach looking for property (vacation/retirement house) to buy.

Was wondering if anyone on here is (a) a Realtor in the area (b) knows of a good one/family that is

Keep the commissions in the family Will be down there 22nd - 31st Dec looking.

We spent 10 days on the gulf coast recently - and are comparing Bonita Springs (wife's fav so far) to ???? place on the Atlantic side. We need to be within 2hrs max of a major airport, must have canals for boat and access to big water. So we are looking for a comparable place to Bonita to compare life in either place. Any recommendations on nice places in that stretch?

---------------------------------------------------------------
NO - I do not want to buy a Rover Shop with a house thrown in.

YES - if anyone wants me to bitch slap Shayne I will gladly do so as we are getting together for a beer, lamingtons and meat pies one day. Just unsure weather I want to introduce my wife to him, or subject my children to him!

My company has a couple of offices in South Florida, Boca being the northern most.

I lived in Aventura for a couple of years and enjoyed it, but I think you'll be less aggravated by traffic and Miami's exponential population growth a bit further north. Let me know if you are still looking and I'll send you a couple of contacts for agents I've worked with.

My grandmother had a house on a canal in Pompano and there were only 2 bridges between her and open water.

Have you looked @ Stuart ? Tons of waterfront and big sport fishing town.

Raub's probably dated all the agents in town and can recommend one.

I lived in Hallandale Beach for a couple years. Lots of great places. Family has places in Hallandale and Aventura. Aventura is a little nicer than Hallandale but much more busy. Nice thing about both places you have the option of flying into MIA or FLL. FLL is usually much cheaper. Short sales are one route to go, lots of crazy opportunities.

**** Make sure you read the bylaws at the Condos. One group of builders made it so that the Condo association did not own the pool, they had to rent it from the builders forever. Many buildings are like that and it is not a good situation to be in.

Craig,

You probably want to look at the Gulf Coast. Way more laid back vibe and the water is better IMO.

Ocean side is more for senile old farts from up north in their golden years that like to drive really slow.

Oh wait...never mind...

Problem with FL. gulf coast is water depth and species availability imo. Craig and I share a passion for offshore fishing for stuff you measure in feet not inches.

Jonesy; Just a heads up. Prepared to be shocked by the closing costs on a property/Mortgage in Florida. They are far higher than any other state in the union.

I lived in the Sebastian area for a good while. It has grown up a bit, but there are some deals to be had. Orlando airport isn't a hatefull drive and great access to the ocean thru the inlet.
