That's interesting, but hopefully they can actually deliver. 160x120 uncooled microbolometer mostly likely with false color imaging...the $350 pricepoint is awesome!

Can it see through clothing, and will it be allowed through TSA airport security?

Is that really a good deal for an IR camera?

For an uncooled microbolometer imaging array in the far infrared, it's a really good deal - like by an order of magnitude.

The closest thing that FLIR has at that pricepoint is the PathfindIR.

In the past, L3 has had a monopoly on uncooled thermal sensors. Unless they're using something new like a TLV or a competing technology, then there must be another manufacturer of these sensors that is allowing them to bottom out the price.

Or it is just going to be junk...

It's possible that it's junk.

Possibly changes in the FAR/ITAR have allowed the market to open up considerably, leading to cost reductions through economies of scale.

Again, I hope it's not junk...the uses for these types of sensors are really huge for the average person.

Too bad iphone 6 will be released in a couple months. Cool technology but they need to speed up production for newer phone models or they will be instantly outdated

I agree. I was buying a $350 attachment for my phone I would want it to be with the latest phone.
