Another good one is Rislone- add a quart when you first buy a used truck and change oil again in 1k. Amazing how heavy the filter gets and how clean the inside of the engine gets.

Bill - love to hear it. I have been trying to recognize when repairs go more easily or cheaply and enjoy them more. Sometimes I'm in such a rush I just blow it off.

Doug - probably a lame question - but doe that Rislone work on NAS V8's or better for diesels? I've been trying the Ron method of swapping the filter every 500 until it gets light and maybe I'll try a Rislone just before the next oil change is due.

Rislone is meant for both gas and diesels. I have used it on most every used truck I have had to clean out the crankcase of any deposits or sludge. I run thin synthetic oils even in diesels so cleaning them out first and then occasionally thereafter keeps them nice and shiny inside. Its amazing how fast oil turns black in a diesel due to soot.

x2 on the rislone did wonders on my Classic, +1 on the premature oil filter changes for the first few thousand especially when running heavy detergents
