first time offroading

big dog off road event.
It was the only LR. I felt really weird. Needed some support from LR brothers.

Nice. How'd it do? Looks like you have some street tires on? I would have taken out all of the windows if I had the Badger II...it was real nice down there this weekend!

it was bad for me. I did not engage Diff lock on low first, just because I did not know how to do it, and did not know that I had to. So I could not get on a couple of hills at all.
There were only Jeeps, so nobody really knew how to operate this car.
Wheels are completely wrong for this event. Also, no winch bumper.
And they send me on Level 5-6, which made me really frustrated.(beginner is 1,2,3)
And I was not planning to damage my car, considering that I just finished it.
So, I needed advise. Next time I am going to LR event!
Otherwise, it was great.

Dmitry, as Gus says the next good opportunity is the 21st. But until you get more experienced I suggest stick with o e or two other rovers. There is something local going on every month, just ask.

When are you coming to HH to show off your rig?

What damage did you do?

Yeah, I know it was Big Dogs, but I meant where did you go? I assume it was the "Ice Breakers" event at the Cove in Winchester, VA.

As others have said, if you are available the weekend of the 21st we are heading to Rausch Creek and would love to have you along

or if you would like to try the Cove again with a group of Rovers the ROAV Spring Rally is that same May 20th weekend. There will be trial rides for the less experienced that may suit you.

I have to say you did a nice job on the truck.

Baby steps are key in offroading. Buy the off roader driving book by Tom Shepard.

I will say this, I am by no means expert offroad and my trucks have the boo boos to prove it, but my friend Dom would put people with well built trucks to shame with his basically stock slightly lifted disco I on stock michelin XPCs -- because he knows how to drive offroad.

I highly recommend also getting some instructional video like Bill Burke's "Getting Unstuck" or better yet take a class. There are a few outfits that offer courses including Bill Burke himself.
