Rewiring started left me about 3 inches from the starter junction everything looks good not melted together or compromised so hopefully in a hour it will run again....

If nothing else burned up.

It's alive and running again, Alternator seems to be the only other casualty as it smells bad and isn't doing much charging anymore. Going to pull it and have it tested. Then look through the tubs of spares and see if my memory is good. If it is I have a pair of RRC alternators on the shelf.

Doesn't take much to fry an alternator apparently. luckily that was the only casualty, could have been much worse.

Trust me I was doing a happy dance when the motor fired up and settled into a nice idle. The alternator was a shoulder shrug and I'll fix that tomorrow lol.

Happy to see the truck is back in business.

Thanks Dro me to!

Slangel I was just glad the only thing that burned was the wiring. As I was pulling the nut to get the wires off the alternator on a running engine I had this image running through my head.....

I kept thinking this is bullshit, I don't even have a oil cooler and it's still going to burn to the ground.

Keep her in the fight brother! Aside from suicidal 110's, vehicle self immolation seems to be a trend this week...this was during a morning commute up the GW Pkwy

I hear ya

I had a funeral to go to yesterday so I didn't get any work done on the 110.

Today however I swapped out the alternator, for one that I'm surprised it worked. I dropped it and busted all the plastic cover crap on the back to hell.

So now it's running and charging like it's supposed to. Drove it about 20 miles today, and aside from needing an alignment and it drifting about a bit it seems great.

The power increase from the 3.5 to the 3.9 with a cam is amazing. She has so much power now starting around 2500ish rpm. I can actually out run a smart car now.

I spent the rest of the afternoon putting the grill, light surrounds, bumper, winch and brush guard back on. I replaced a few burned out bulbs and all seems well.

I'm going to try and put a few more miles on it then drive it to work on thursday.

Only real problem I'm noticing so far is she is only warming up to about 1/4 on the gauge. Some checks with the infered thermometer seem to agree with that. I might need to get a grill muff thing for it to restrict flow so I can get the engine fully warmed up and the heater going full bore.

She definitely runs cooler now than she did before all the work.
