Finally - i joined the club

A couple of weeks ago I picked up my first Defender. It's not a SW and has some mods that I wasn't necessarily looking but its mine and I love it. It was local and is in beautiful shape. The PO took great care of it and was great to deal with. I'm working on some changes now but since our first baby arrived two weeks before I picked up the truck so it obviously hasn't been a priority. My wife is a saint...

Congrats!! I spoke with the PO a few months back as my brother was thinking of purchasing. It's a great truck and seemed very well taken care of. Best of luck with it.

Did you put the seat configuration back to stock and the center console?

I am debating the seat. I like that the stock seat folds, is easily taken out, and is stock, but the mastercraft seat seems better for children. While it may be a while before my daughter rides in it I can't wait to take her and the pup out and about. I also like that the back is easily accessible without the console, particularly for the dog, but I have it and will probably put it back in, at least for the cup holders. The only chance I get to drive it currently with a newborn is my early morning coffee run Saturday and Sunday so the cup holders would make driving and parking on the hills in town more manageable.

Great looking truck, and yes your wife is a Saint. When mine was pregnant and in "nesting" mode the SOP was if it didn't go in the baby's room or in some way directly connected to the baby - I wasn;t getting it. Period.

Congrats on both babies! I agree, the color and wheel combo looks great! Can't get away with that on my yellow...

You could put your daughter in the front seat while the wife rides in the back, with not horrible access to the front, especially with a missing center console.

Nothing calms a child down like the rumble of an engine. I took my infant (now 8 months old) home from the hospital in the back of my 110 three door with forward facing seats. Quieted down immediately after I started the diesel. I'm sure he heard the rumble with me doing all the driving while the wife was pregnant.

Thanks for all of the compliments and comments. As soon as I have time to take some pictures I will make a registry and list all the goodies. Besides figuring out how/where to park the beast I am also considering adding AC and switching to SW doors but probably not for a while.

I think my wife got the bib here: http://www.cafepress.com/d90_d_zynes/7378149
